In the past, summer leagues could not get current NBA players to play due to risk of injury.
I am surprised so many "professional" basketball players are willing to risk injury. I see they do get paid for what its worth.

They only get paid if their team wins, it is a winner-takes-all tournament. There is zero prize money for second place...or any other teams.
