    RIP Denny Crum

Lost in all the shuffle, Denny Crum passed away yesterday at the age of 84.

The best way I can describe him is that he was an awesome coach (one of the best of all time, actually), but who never felt compelled to talk about how awesome he was and never looked down at people. As good of a coach as he was, you'd never even know he was a coach at all. Brad Stevens, who didn't coach in college for very long, had a very similar temperament and approach when interacting with others.

Love Denny and concur. His only flaw was that he was a basketball coach only and wasn't interested in babysitting the players or his assistant coaches. That caused the second half of his career to pale in comparison with the first half due to academic eligibility issues and some goofy recruiting violations due to failure to pay close enough attention to the other details around the program.
