Hope Steele can get the best out of them.
This should make everyone feel better about Tucker.

    Newly minted 4* on Rivals.

And listen to what a local on the scene blogger had to say about Elijah.

He doesn't sound like a project according to that guy.

Tucker was originally expected to redshirt because he is so young but seems like he is just tearing it up so I think he will play day 1. Just watch his videos and you will be able to see that. Expect him to make a jump in the next rankings. It was a good thing a lot of coaches were not able to see him play before he committed to Xavier in my opinion. You can’t teach what he has. Would be shocked if he is not a stud in college. Made a big jump in the rivals rankings and expect the same in 247.

Really great to see. Admittedly I was concerned about this class, but seems as though we got two quality guys that add some additional length to the team.

You really did a nice job mining the net for that Twitter video....Elijah was on a mission that night! He's definitely a highly skilled multi-tooled prospect.....a taller Colby Jones. AND he looks way more intimidating w/o that fancy hair-do.

He does have a smooth looking stroke with a high release, but sems disinterested on the defensive end.....not much "energy".
So, the mantra of "if you can't play defense, you don't see the floor" might be an issue. Although, I expect not a lot of freshmen come in particularly proficient in this area, especially the "Xavier Way" (or, more precisely, the "Steele Way"), much less against the level of play (although GRAD80's mentioned he plays against very good condition).

Not to derail the thread, but how do you see this played out in reality? I'm thinking of Kunkel for some games and Carter early on (for as much PT he gets).

Ok, I know we're 10 months away and who knows what kind of sh!t storms we'll have to endure, but nothing much going until Saturday and this thread has me thinking.

For conversation sake, let's say Scruggs, Carter, Griffin and Johnson are done and Stanley decides to cash in somewhere. The known commodities are Kunk, Free, Tandy, Odom, Jones and Wilcher. That would parlay into a talented 4 guard unit but seriously lacking in height/physicality for the BEast.

Unless Miles can emerge, we really need at least 1 of our 2021's to be ready to roll from the jump, so we can effectively compete against the size in this league. Of course a transfer big, maybe 2, are almost a given but that's most likely a mixed bag.

The early optics here when compared to what the rest of the conference looks to return, doesn't create overwhelming optimism IMO. Now if Odom could make huge strides in shooting from distance and morph into Myles Powell and Free bulks up and becomes Garza-esque, no worries, but barring that next year will be a big time challenge.

As you said, at least one transfer big is a certainty. With the covid bulge in eligible students, many who would be graduating, the chances of someone coming in and contributing right away is pretty good. We should be able to get a decent big since the pickins will be better and they would likely be in a better than average position for PT here.

Cesare Edwards finishing his HS career in style, leading his team to capture the South Carolina regional championship. The state tournament starts on Sunday. He was also nominated as a McDonalds AA candidate.

At 6'11" his height/length will be sorely needed this fall.

Even though bigs notoriously take longer to develop (or is that just a myth I've bought into) he can't come soon enough.

Word is that he is not an inside player but a stretch 4. Don't we have plenty of those already?
    Definitely not an enforcer inside.
