    Xavier Basketball 2020-21

With all the trouble in the world, I'm starved for some good Xavier basketball news.
Having a hard time finding out what's going on.

To follow onto MOR's post in another thread, if we are restricted to 27 games this year, it looks (I think) something like this:

    20 BE games
Wake at home (second in 2 year rolling series)
    @ Cincinnati
    3 games Advocare tournament
    Big 12 game (Oklahoma?)
    Gavitt game

That looks like a full 27 games. I thought I'd read that you had to play 4 road games OOC.
Guess the Advocare and @Cincinnati would satisfy that requirement, or maybe the Big 12 or Gavitt games.

    Does anybody have any information?
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

I wonder if the Gavitt games are going to be at home or maybe clustered in Indy, or somewhere.

Per Dan Gavitt the Sr VP of basketball for the NCAA: "The two basketball tournament committees -- men's and women's -- weighed in here and made a recommendation for schools to consider playing a minimum of four nonconference games against Division I teams. It's not a requirement because they don't have the authority to require that -- those are institutional and conference decisions"

So that's kind of the objective is to play 4 nonconference games, regardless of location.
I have complete faith in coach Steele and Co.

This is, it seems, the 100th year of Xavier basketball.

But it's Team #99. Why is that?

Gavitt game not going to happen this year, nor will the Wake game. UC game is iffy too.

They haven’t said. The last time I spoke with someone in the ticket office, they said the big unknown is how many the city will allow at indoor events. If they’re only allowing 20% at PBS for Bengals games, I don’t see how they’d get anywhere near that. If I had to guess, I’d say probably 10% max.

Golf is a relatively simple game, played by reasonably intelligent people, stupidly.

I was under the impression that the rule limiting indoor attendance to 300 max is still in effect. If so, maybe 250 fans in addition to players, coaching staffs, officials, and other "essential personnel".
Xavier always goes to the NCAA tournament...Projecting anything less than that this season feels like folly--Eamonn Brennan, ESPN (Summer Shootaround, 2012)
