Since we have to wait until September to see the KY Derby, we might as well watch this.

So Tiz the Law wins the mile and an eight Belmont.
11 weeks until Derby.
But the Travers first. Then Preakness early Oct before Breeders Cup.
That’s a hell of a schedule. It's time for a bourbon on the rocks!

Were going to let 23,000 get in for the Derby.
Now not going to let anyone. Derby without fans is going to look strange on TV....he went up late, and I was already up there.

Suspicion is that potential troublemakers descending on Louisville in light of the Breonna Taylor situation is what convinced Churchill Downs to shut fans down altogether. Louisville has a minor league soccer team that has allowed 30% capacity at its games already, and the University of Louisville is still planning for around 20,000 fans for its home games as well.
(I guess it was actually the governator who shut them down and not CD itself, but same rationale)Last edited by GoMuskies; 08-21-2020 at 04:39 PM.

Wimp of a mayor and governor succumbing to political and extremist pressure. No reason you cant have 23k people at churchill...the place is freaking huge and very easy to socially distance. The "leaders" in this city and state are the biggest bunch of pussies I've ever seen

GOMUSKIES and XVILLE nailed it. As I grew up in Louisviile we didn’t go downtown after ‘68 troubles. It’s been coming back in last 5 years. It’ll take at least another decade to come back. Sad.

The University of Louisville announced yesterday that they will allow 18,000 fans for games at their 60,000 seat stadium. So if it wasn't clear already, it's clear now that CD not allowing 20,000 fans (or some lower number) in their 52,000 seat grandstand for the Derby is not due to Covid.

D. Wayne Lukas is 85. Had no idea he was that old. No horses in the Derby this year, but apparently he kicked Covid-19 right in the balls.
