So, are you saying that’s what YOU would do or what HE should do. You handle it your way, and he can handle it his way. It’s not my place to tell you or anyone else how to deal with their family. If he felt venting here was the best to handle it rather than confronting his family and possible causing a rift with his siblings, who am I or anyone else to argue that? It’s not like he’s molesting children or clubbing baby seals. He’s making a decision on how he feels best to interact with his family.

So by your logic, if someone decides to stay at home, am I right to shame them and call them a Covid Crazy or a Branch Covidian? Absolutely not. Each person can make their own decision and no one has the right to shame them.

By the way, for those on the receiving end of shaming, it feels like clubbing a baby seal.

Sure it’s possible to detect covid NA but the flu tests are also negative. False positive on covid and false negative on flu is not impossible but highly unlikely with what we know to be current circulating viruses.

Interesting. The US is testing CV at a rate of well over 2M/day, and flu at 4k/day. Over 500x as many CV tests. I'll need to mull that over.

Thanks Lloyd. I do wonder about antibodies (and realize I likely seroreverted in the last year). I don't wonder about STIs though!

If I had symptoms and went to visit my 93 year old mother for lunch, I would deserve some grief from my sisters. They would be concerned because my actions were stupid. I can make my own decisions, but that doesn’t mean they’d be smart. Call it shaming or whatever you want.

I’ve seen two people get it twice. Rare but we are really only 6 months removed from the first wave of covid.

Frank Martin has COVID for a second time. Per the broadcaster during the Mizzou game the first time around was fairly light but this one is hitting him hard.

Just found out today that my idiot siblings back in Cincinnati have all managed to contract and give each other COVID. The have subsequently exposed both of my parents (in their mid/late 60's), but they are fine so far and awaiting test results. They are generally healthy, however my Mom is a cancer survivor who almost died as a result of an immunotherapy treatment (Cytokine storm - the same thing that kills a lot of COVID patients), so I'm not sure if that means she is at a higher risk for an immune system over-response. Pretty sure my Dad is on steroids for his back, too.

My sister decided that a vacation in Florida would be a great way to relax, and then proceeded to infect the rest of the family.

I am so there with you. The frustration is unbearable. If you want to walk out in traffic, on a busy street, feel free to do so. If you are taking my loved ones with you, prepare for some backlash. I hope you and your family are doing well. Many of us have tried so hard to keep our families safe.... only to be undermined by jackasses.

I will NOT shame the careful people out there, but the reckless people deserve to be shamed. They are not only making decisions that affect themselves, but those decisions can have grave repercussions on others. Period.

If I decide to be conservative by protecting myself, that is my right. (I’m actually out and about, but in a reasonable way.) If I put others at risk unreasonably, I’m a dick. Are you reasonable? Or are you a dick?
