I think you've seen it work for Toledo. In theory, when you have guys who can stretch the floor, it makes the defense defend further out, and gives more operating room to the post and slashers. I think Toledo has been able to take advantage of this.
It doesn't make any sense for us, though. Teams can just pack it in even further.
