Good luck with that Dave. If these guys weren't playing on teams attached to colleges, nobody would be particularly interested in watching them play. Personally, if I want to watch professional basketball, I'll just watch the NBA.

    It is DEFINITELY real!

LaVar Ball's JBA was real too. Sort of. It was the most ill conceived and poorly managed league in the entire history of professional sports, and predictably folded before it even reached the halfway point of its first season, and everyone that had anything to do with it was completely screwed out of the chance of going to college. It was eight teams, all called the 'Ballers' who branded themselves as the Los Angeles Ballers, or the New York Ballers, yet never actually played any games in those cities.

The HBL is WAAAY more organized than that, but in order to get anything like that off the ground you're still shooting at the moon. I will say this, though. They have had some good ideas. One is to try (and it appears as though they will succeed) to involve current and former NBA players, and the other is tie themselves with actual universities. The one thing I cannot see is how they are going to generate enough revenue to pay the kinds of salaries they think they can pay, but far be it from me to question an sports economics savant like Andy Schwarz. He knows more about that kind of stuff than I know about...well...anything, and he seems to think it will work.

It's set up like the NBA. 48 minute games, 24 minute shot clocks, and all that, which to me is kind of boring when every team is forced to play that way. But I do like the idea of getting some sort of college basketball in June, July, and August. So, good luck to them!
