13 way too long with no opt out. Like the Rockies deal with Arenado- 8yrs./260 m - 3rd year opt out for both.

It was obvious the main intent was to get paid (not saying there's anything wrong with that). That shows with the longevity with zero opt out. He's set forever financially with pretty much no risk. Great for him.

Huge risk for the Phillies. If he wins a couple rings, it's worth it. If he pulls his typical temper tantrums and becomes a cancer, which he's shown to do before, 13 years is going to feel like a half century. No one will take him off of their hands at this price either.

On the plus side, he's got plenty of "prime years" left in him. He's only 26.

Philly also went all-in during the offseason with signings like Jean Segura, Andrew McCutcheon and an extension for Aaron Nola.

Won't harm the Reds since they never beat the Phillies during the regular season, anyway!

Glad he's not in the American League.

My favorite part of this is that he'll face the Nats 247 times over that contract.

My favorite part is that after his 13 year contract is up, my NY Mets will STILL be paying Bobby Bonilla.
