Dahmir Bishop’s Imhotep Charter is playing in the prestigious City of Palms Classic. The field is loaded, as usual, with National Ranked teams and HIGH D1 talent. Bishop is a pre-tourney 3rd team selection. Should be interesting to see how Bishop fares against top talent....he’s been a real stat stuffer so far, along with shooting a fantastic deep ball against Philly competition.
Looking at the schedule, Imhotep is destined to meet University School in the 2nd round Thursday evening. University features Duke commit Vernon Carey Jr the #1 player in the country per Rivals. They also have the top Junior in Scottie Barnes. Both are front court guys, so look for Bishop to have good success on the perimeter.

Link to weekend action for Zach Freemantle (#32). His Bergen Catholic team (#5 ranked in NJ) took down #14 St Mary's Elizabeth 77-75 in the Hoop Group event. Zach went for 23 pts and 13 rebounds.

Sounds like all of our commits are off to strong starts. Quality of competition is somewhat suspect for Miles playing in Rural Kentucky, as he’s going to tower over most of his opposition. On the other hand, Bergman Catholic has a lot of big BIG public schools and private academies on it’s schedule. Did ZFree go up against any other D1 talent on that SME team? If you can EASTCOAST, let us know when Zach plays other guys signed to play D1 next year.

Miles team..Walton-Verona HS is not all that rural. It’s actually just south of Florence, Ky and only about 25 miles south of downtown Cincinnati. They play plenty of the schools in northern Kentucky. Now, I’m certainly not saying that the NKY (or Ky on the whole) level of competition is equal to the bigger schools in Cincinnati or northern Ohio, but it’s not just a bunch of backroad hicks playing on outside courts with peach baskets either. But because their may be only 1 or two high schools per county, outside of the Lexington, Louisville, or NKY areas of the state, most of these schools also use the weekends to travel to metro areas and play in mutiteam events where they can get 1-2 games against good competition. Still, his numbers do need to be looked at carefully and with an understanding that the competition isn’t always the same as what one may see everywhere.

ZF will be in the Palm Beach Gardens Tournament during Xmas week. Not sure of the level of competition. Jan 1 Bergen Cath is scheduled against Gill St Bernard. Paul Mulcahy is a Rutgers commit. GSB is always a top 20 NJ team. Ranney School Boardwalk Showcase is 1/12. Ranney has 2 D1's Lewis (FL) and Antoine (Nova). They were ranked #1 in NJ but lost opener in the Hoop Group Tournament. They also have games with other top 20 teams - Don Bosco Prep (1/17 and 2/14) Montclair Immaculate (1/30) and a home date with The Patrick School on 2/5 (This should be a great game - Patrick School always top 5 - former home of Kevin Boyle of Montverde). Should be plenty of great competition to get a good feel for ZF. All these schools have D1 prospects and commits.

So, Miles will be playing a little bit closer to his talent/height level Thursday night for those interested

    http://www.kingofthebluegrass.com/

He will be facing Isaiah Cozart who is committed to WKU and is a shot blocking machine (career leader in shots blocked in KY). Ill be interested to see how he does against that kind of competition.

The real highlight for this tournament for me though will be seeing Tandy play. Friday night he could be playing against Trinity and Louisville Top 50ish recruit, David Johnson. I should be in attendance and report back.

As far as commits, no. There are some guys in the 2020 class that Xavier has at the very least talked to but they are top 20ish recruits so i don't think they are realistically looking at Xavier anymore.....Spire Academy and Huntington Prep kids.
