It comes down to two factors... Entertainment and star power...
As far as entertainment is concerned the Big East is way more entertaining than the Big 10. People won't show up for the 55-60 grind games the Big 10 offers. The Big East has flat out better games with good offensive flow, decent D and officials who don't take over a game.
The Big 10 also isn't pulling the star power it once did. All the big players are going SEC and ACC in the east and PAC-12 in the West. For the most part the Big 10 just doesn't have the star power... For instance Happ is an amazing player, but people won't travel to see him. He has no it factor. The biggest star in the Big 10 is Tom Izzo and he is losing his luster and is matched by Jay Wright.
Point being the Big 10 offers no real future so I do not see them bumping the Big East any time soon
