    Gonzaga 10, Texas 8, Xavier/LSU/VCU with 7

    Most wins as a 11+ seed:
    Dayton/Richmond/VCU 6
    Gonzaga/Xavier 5

    In 1969 it took a whopping -TWO- wins to make the final four. It was a different game and a different time.
    I'll give you 1980 though. It was getting closer to the format we have today with 48 teams. Purdue to their credit played in the "Play-in" round, and won 4 games to make the final four.

    According to their wiki page, they have no championships.

    Per John Wooden's Wikipedia page, Purdue won a "Helms" national title in 1931-32. This predated the NCAA Championship by 7 years, though.

    Oh, I see. I misunderstood what "Pre-Tournament" meant. I thought it was an award they gave before the tournament was played. But it was an award (Like a mythical championship in football) they gave out before the existence of the tournament. My mistake!
