    Cincinnati Reds 2018

In an effort to distract myself from bad news, I see the Reds are playing the Indians.
Guess Grapefruit League stuff has started, or whatever it's called.

    Reds win.

Golf is a relatively simple game, played by reasonably intelligent people, stupidly.

If the pitching doesn't show improvement this year the Reds are shockingly going to be worse than last year. The offense lost big numbers from Cozart and replaces him with one of the worst hitters in the NL. It's very doubtful that Scooter and Suarez have repeat seasons.

IMO Senzel will be the replacement for Cozart. I think Suarez will be a steady contributor and Winker in the lead off spot will give Votto more chances with men on base. Scooter might be one of those late bloomers that had it click all of a sudden. The offense will be fine, perhaps even better. Run prevention is still terrifying, though. This team could well lead the NL in both runs scored and runs surrendered.

It's going to be a long baseball season. Can the Reds get 65 to 70 wins?

Headed out to AZ this weekend. I don't expect much from the Redlegs this year so this will probably be as it gets for me.
I have a podcast. Sometimes we talk about Xavier: You. Me. Cincy.
    I put the X in Texas. @fleckd.

Same old song and dance. Why do we have the two worst leadership teams in professional sports? Seems like we gave up a ton when we decided to rebuild and got very little quality in return. Those are decisions that you have to get right 90% of the time or it pushes back rebuilds another 3-4 years.

I expect the offense to be about where they were last year. They lose Cozart, but they'll gain more ABs from Winker and Senzel. I think Scooter will regress a little bit, but I don't expect a huge drop. He his hitting his peak and he's always been at least a decent hitter.

It's all about pitching with this team. If they get league average pitching, they'll be .500 and at the fringes of the wildcard race. If not, it'll be another 60-win season.

And my other Reds team now has a death grip on last place in the Cactus League. Nice.

Was some story about an good pitching prospect on ESPN though (Hunter Greene).
