    Women Pickup 2nd BE Win

On Friday night, the Lady Muskies beat Providence and one of their guards made a 3/4 shot a buzzer at the end of first half.

Lady Muskies go for 2 in a row today at Noon.

Going OT after Tia Owens hit a 3 with under 2 seconds remaining in regulation. And this was right after Creighton blocked another 3-point shot a second earlier.

Why are the women playing at noon on a non-holiday weekday? Do they have a million kids in from local Catholic elementary schools or something?

It's their annual Field Trip day - many women's programs play a game like this along with the occasional men's program.

Alas, it wasn't meant to be today - Creighton won 71-64 in overtime. Xavier is now halfway through league play at 2-7 - currently 9th place.

That's exactly what it was. With the exception of the Marquette game, the women have been competitive in league play. I wonder how much longer Neal has to turn things around? They were picked last, pre-season.

The women's team needs to keep the local girls from both sides of the river home. A lot of talent goes away.

There is certainly no reason they can get back to the Balcomb and McGuff like teams. They have the facilities and resources. Just need to land that one kid to start things moving in that direction again. It all comes down to players.

The real trouble is that the whole Big East Conference is lacking. Not one team is in the top 25 among D-1 Women's programs this year. That is another reason why UConn coming to its sense, football-wise, and returning to their rightful roots in the Big East would be better for both parties (UConn and the Big East). The other 10 women's teams would HAVE TO amp up their programs simply to stay somewhat competitive with the Huskies Women!

Or they could be like every other league UConn's been in for the last 20 years and just bend over and take it from the Huskies.
