Just might have gotten Marquette into the dance. They need to win at least one at MSG.

I think Creighton losing puts them on our side of the bracket as the 4 seed. Looks like X, assuming we beat St. John's or Georgetown, will play the winner of Providence vs Creighton.

If Butler wins tonight at Seton Hall, then Butler will be the 4 seed and Creighton the 5 seed, and X will play the winner of that game.

I think Marquette would be a 7, but it won't be solidified until Butler-Seton Hall goes final. They definitely need to beat DePaul - I don't think they'd be punished just for a loss against Villanova in the quarters.

This is the Big East bracket if Seton Hall beats Butler:

    FIRST ROUND (Wednesday)
    Game 1: (8) Georgetown vs. (9) St. John's
    Game 2: (7) Marquette vs. (10) DePaul

    QUARTERFINAL ROUND (Thursday)
    Game 3: (1) Xavier vs. Georgetown/St. John's
    Game 4: (4) Creighton vs. (5) Providence
    Game 5: (2) Villanova vs. Marquette/DePaul
Game 6: (3) Seton Hall vs. (6) Butler

In this scenario, Seton Hall, Creighton and Providence are all tied at 10-8 in conference play. Seton Hall would get the #3 seed by virtue of a 3-1 record within the group. Creighton was 2-2 against the group and Providence was 1-3 against the group. Butler and Marquette would both be 9-9 in the conference, but Butler would be #6 with a season sweep of Marquette.

In this scenario, Providence, Creighton and Butler are all tied at 10-8 in conference play. All three teams went 2-2 against each other. Providence would be #3 by virtue of their win against Xavier, and Butler would be #4 by virtue of their season sweep against Marquette. Creighton ultimately gets the #5 spot. No pressure on Seton Hall tonight. It’s only the difference between a 3 and a 7 seed.
