Who would have throught starting a true freshman at FSU in his first start would be a disaster? Hopefully it does not cause lasting damage to Olson.

Started to have flashbacks of Matt Kent's control issues in the regional final at Louisville last year.

It really is 2018 when we're hoping there isn't "lasting damage" to a kid who didn't throw well in his first start. He's a talented kid and should have pitched better. Xavier Baseball isn't a small time program anymore, they're recruiting on a high level and these guys have to perform. He'll be fine.

I get that, but it's not like he did his thing and just got beat up. He faced 10 batters and issued free passes to 5 of them. Plus a couple of wild pitches. That will definitely leave a scar.

0-3 weekend for Xavier. Likely to be 0-4 after Xavier visits Kentucky today.

In other news, Mississippi State is firing its baseball coach for cause today. Apparently he's been a naughty boy. https://www.clarionledger.com/story/...rts/353817002/

Nice outing for freshman Henry Miller at #8 Kentucky. 4 IP and left with Xavier up 2-1. Now freshman Allbry Major is on in relief. Major started in CF and has the two-run single that accounted for all Xavier's runs so far.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to access WatchESPN through Spectrum for the past week. Didn't really matter considering the team was swinging over their heads at FSU, but tonight's game has been much more winnable so far.

And Major promptly throws a gopher ball to the first UK hitter in the bottom of the 6th. Tie game.

At least we took UK to extras. 2-2 in the 10th. Worked out of a bases loaded one out jam to get there.
