Fixed it. Actually knew it was a shut-out. Typo.
"He's a little bit ball-dominant, he needs to have the ball in his hands, and he's not a good shooter." Ball-dominant … isn't that a nice way of calling someone a ball hog? Where is my Jay Bilas Thesaurus?

Muskies got a win today against Southern in Dallas - they'll have a taller task when they play Dallas Baptist tonight and tomorrow night. The Patriots are an associate member of the Missouri Valley that has been a frequent NCAA Tournament team the past decade.

Pitching has gotten raked against Dallas Baptist and Eastern Kentucky, but fortunately the bats broke out bigtime tonight. X currently leading EKU 22-13 in the bottom of the 9th on the strength of a 13-run 5th inning.

Also keep in mind Big East play finally begins this weekend with a 3-game set at Georgetown.

It's REALLY early, but with Xavier dropping 2 of 3 to 7-19 (coming in) Georgetown in the Big East opening weekend, Xavier is now starting to move into the danger zone on qualifying for the Big East Tournament. Given that Xavier is hosting, that would be a bit embarrassing. Big series with Seton Hall this weekend, who would seem to be the other most likely candidate for the #4 spot in the Tournament (St. John's, Creighton and Butler are the likely top 3).

Losing both of those games on walkoffs at Georgetown also sucked - they need at minimum one game at Seton Hall this weekend, although 2 or 3 would be desired given that both St. John's and Creighton come to Xavier this season.

Butler and Creighton ended up splitting a pair of games on a neutral site after snow cancelled their first game in Omaha. St. John's swept Villanova in 3 elsewhere in the Big East.

Bad news is that Xavier only got one win at Seton Hall - but the good news was Creighton getting swept at St. John's this weekend. The Bluejays are 1-4 right now and, like Xavier, are outside of the Top 4 at the moment. Xavier's series at home against Creighton is an absolute must-win series at this point.

The only road series Xavier has left is Butler, but they're going to be a handful this season.

According to the box score, Xavier's 10-7 loss to UC on Wednesday took 4 hours and 23 minutes. It was not an extra inning game. Double yuck.

Opening game not starting well for X. Creighton hit a pair of homers to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning and P Trevor Olson (in relief of Matt Kent) already in trouble in the 2nd inning.

Big win for Xavier today. They beat 9-0 St. John's 7-3 in the opener of their 3 game series. Xavier is 4-6 and fighting for that #4 spot in the conference so that they can play in the Big East Tournament they are hosting.
