Good for you. Make sure the roof is tight. The one maintenance item that can't be deferred is keeping the water out of your home because it eats away at everything.

You can go to the attic or crawlspace during a heavy downpour and see if stuff is leaking. All leaks should be addressed because they only get bigger with time. And then check again after every major windstorm.
