Correct. He was paid $201,850 as of 2 years ago.

Strange move, BE to the AAC. I am not sure what kind of move that is. Hasn't X pretty much beat on UC the last few years in baseball?

Not strange at all. The Big East is an ungodly bad baseball league. The AAC is the #4 RPI league this year, and is adding Wichita State next year (who blows goats now but went to the College World Series regularly back in the '80s and '90s and has a huge stadium).

I don't follow NCAA baseball, but it looks like there is (or at least has been) a significant delta between the AAC and Big East:

YEAR AAC CONF RPI BIG EAST CONF RPI
    2014 6 18
    2015 3 18
    2016 6 16
    2017 4 10

Just looked, they are better top to bottom. St. Johns was it for the BE.

There was probably a feeling that Googins hit his ceiling at Xavier the past 2 seasons with trips to the regional finals. UC does have better baseball facilities and a better league in the American when it comes to baseball (UCF, USF, East Carolina, Houston, Tulane and UConn come to mind).

At the end of the day, he probably wanted to exit on a high note given the seniors and players likely to be drafted that won't be back in 2018.

Creighton is usually a decent regular-season program, but they never got over the hump against Xavier in the postseason. St. John's actually beat them twice the year Xavier DIDN"T even qualify for the Big East tournament in Omaha 2 seasons ago.

"He's a little bit ball-dominant, he needs to have the ball in his hands, and he's not a good shooter." Ball-dominant … isn't that a nice way of calling someone a ball hog? Where is my Jay Bilas Thesaurus?

Sucks he went to UC of all places.
Coaches don't make Xavier, Xavier makes coaches.
