    MSOC: Men's Spring Recap

    • Xavier scored in every match this spring, finishing with a four-game unbeaten streak. The Musketeers also scored multiple goals in four of their six matches.

    Matt Vasquenza scored in five straight matches this spring. A total of five different players scored in a match.

    • Sophomore goalkeeper Zach Nelson started in five matches between the pipes for the Musketeers this spring. The West Linn, Ore., native played in one match during the 2016 season, collecting one save at UAB on Aug. 28.

    • Xavier returns three of its top four goal scorers from a year ago in Matt Vasquenza (5), Matt Nance (3) and Derrick Otim (3). The three players also combined for 12 assists.

    Looks like good progress heading into the new season, Matty V is pretty lethal up top, makes smart runs, can finish well, having Corey Brown for another season to anchor the defense helps too. Looks like it's going to be another quality season for the Muskies. Love the growth of our soccer program over the last 6-8 years.
