"He's a little bit ball-dominant, he needs to have the ball in his hands, and he's not a good shooter." Ball-dominant … isn't that a nice way of calling someone a ball hog? Where is my Jay Bilas Thesaurus?

Here's an OU messageboard thread about this weekend. They don't appear to be in a great mood...or particularly confident about their chances Friday and this weekend.

D1 Baseball's Louisville regional breakdown has arrived. Most of the article is premium content, but there are a few paragraphs of free content. Mostly slobbering over Louisville and saying they are going to win the region in a walk. There was some faint praise for Xavier's pitching staff (and higher praise for Lowther individually).

Here's the Baseball America regional preview:

Devon Perez will start for Oklahoma. He's 5-2 with a 3.61 ERA in 7 starts (13 total appearances). 57 and a third innings, 60 hits, 10 BBs and 74Ks. Opponents are hitting .265 with 8 HRs. He's clearly not going to be handing out free passes, so Xavier will need to have success swinging the bat.

Lowther is 5-4 with a 2.81 ERA in 14 starts. 77 IP, 44 hits, 30 BB and 114 Ks. Opponents are hitting .164.

As a team, Xavier is hitting/OBP/slugging .272/.367/.424 with 59 HRs. Xavier pitching has a team ERA of 4.56 with a batting average against of .262.

OU's offense is .274/.379/.419 with 51 HRs. The pitching staff ERA is 4.32 with a BAA of .246.

I see that the action will be called on ESPN this weekend by former Houston Astros first-round pick, one-time GoMuskies pupil, and most importantly former Louisville St. X Tiger Chris Burke.

Burke actually called the regional Xavier was playing in 3 seasons ago at Nashville (the first Vandy regional, not last season).

Wonder if Jim Patterson Stadium is a bandbox or if it's deep like Creighton's park also is. Part of Xavier's power numbers are inflated by Hayden Field, though.
