Zac Lowther showed why he had a great summer in the Cape Cod league. He struck out 8 and allowed 2 runs (1 hit) in 5 innings.

X is 4-4 after splitting with both Troy and Penn State. A very respectable start.

By the way, Xavier's next nine are all on the road at the likes of Charlotte, Georgia, Southern Miss and Louisville. If the Muskies can just avoid finishing that stretch with a 4-13 record and are competitive in most games, it will be a success.

I'm curious as to how the baseball team travels. Do they go by bus or plane?
We often talk about the basketball team traveling for one night, and the cost involved.
The baseball team would (I think) be taking a lot more people to away games, and they are staying for 3 and 4 game series sometimes.
That would mount the costs up, with hotels, meals, etc.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

I suspect that it's mostly by bus. Maybe Creighton is far enough that a flight is necessary.

I did hear the Utah Valley parents talking about their kids catching their flight back home after a weekend series at Wichita State a couple weeks ago. That's about a 15 hour drive, and you have to think Xavier is AT LEAST as generous as Utah Valley in paying for travel. So you can assume anything over 15 hours is a plane. I'd be surprised if anything less than 10 hours merits a plane.

The starting rotation has been very good so far - Zac Lowther, Garrett Schilling (last year's closer), Trent Astle and Greg Jacknewitz.
