Saying what one party did is justifiable because another party did it is extreme. The pot calling kettle black is the reference that should be used here. Neither party is right.

I don't think that's why it was brought up.

Some people can't let go of Jan 6th and others are pointing out to them that it's not unprecedented. I don't think I've heard people say if laws were broken then the perps should walk. The problem is in calling it an insurrection. Because it wasn't. No one has been charged with that.

Also, there are calls for violence and threats being made about a leak of a ruling that only turns the power to where it belongs in this case. The States and/or the People. It was bad law and a bad ruling. Even Ginsburg is on record saying it was. Congress should've dealt with it 50 years ago but punted to Court. Who knows, maybe they'll deal with it now however it will probably need to be done through the Amendment process either way to settle whether abortion is actually a Right or not.

Side note CA is free to abort kids all day now if that is what the voters there want.

So it was brought up because the left and the right are at odds on whether Jan 6th was an “insurrection”? An insurrection is a violent uprising against an authority or government. So what does the right wing members of this site think Jan 6th was? Wouldn’t the left wing BLM protest around the county over the past couple of summers also be considered an insurrection?

No, both were protests that had riotous elements. Jan 6th was a protest that got out of hand as the many, many of the BLM and protests did during the Brett K. hearings. This issue is they were treated very differently but frankly I don't care. Jan 6th was dumb (as soon as people entered/were allowed in the Capitol) as were the BLM "mostly peaceful" protests.

Also, thanks for looking up "insurrection". Also, look up the Insurrection Act of 1807. It was not invoked, no insurrection.

    Trump's lawyer, McConnell and McCarthy:
"Yet, the question before us is not whether there was a violent insurrection of the Capitol. On that point everyone agrees."

Always a problem with the facts here.

“It was a violent insurrection for the purpose of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election from one administration to the next", McConnell said.

Asked Wednesday about Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) description of the riot as a “violent insurrection,” McCarthy said he agreed.

“No one would disagree with that,” McCarthy told reporters.

    Your Llibertarians:

“This is not patriotism. This is not protesting. This is reprehensible violence and aggression and needs to stop now. We hope safety for all those who work in the Capitol.”

Bobbie - Which was worse, the mostly peaceful protest of Jan 6 that was highly assisted and encouraged by undercover FBI spooks, OR, the attack on Ft. Sumter?

You need to come to terms with the horrible skeletons in your party's closet that still resonate to this day.
