    The streak is alive!

This year was easier than most. Not today though. X reached the .500 mark guarantee in conference play earlier than last year. Perhaps this really will be THE year we’ve been waiting for. What started in the Midwestern City, then continued in the Midwestern Collegiate, Atlantic 10, and the Big East Conferences; with Bob Staak, Pete Gillen, Skip Prosser, Thad Matta, Sean Miller, and Chris Mack at the helm; and homes at Schmidt Fieldhouse, Cincinnati Gardens, and the Cintas Center, has continued again this year. X has not had a less than .500 conference record since the 1981-1982 season when our beloved Musketeers finished 1-11 in the MCC. Coincidentally, and with a ridiculous belief that I had something to do with the rise of X basketball, this was the year before I started going to the games as a kid. I have no idea what it feels like to have a losing record in conference or what it feels like to lose to UD in Cincinnati. Two things I would like to never experience. Thanks for getting me through another year without knowing what that’s like.

    82-83 - 10-4
    83-84 - 9-5
    84-85 - 7-7
85-86 - 10-2 Change from Midwestern City to Midwestern Collegiate Conference
    86-87 - 7-5
    87-88 - 9-1
    88-89 - 7-5
    89-90 - 12-2
    90-91 - 11-3
    91-92 - 7-3
    92-93 - 12-2
    93-94 - 8-2
    94-95 - 14-0
    95-96 - 8-8 1st year A-10
    96-97 - 13-3
    97-98 - 11-5
    98-99 - 12-4
    99-00 - 9-7

    09-10 - 14-2
    10-11 - 15-1
    11-12 - 10-6
    12-13 - 9-7
    13-14 – 10-8 1st year Big East
    14-15 – 9-9
    15-16 – 9-2 and still counting.

No other team has finished .500 or better in conference over the last 34 consecutive seasons. Not Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona, Duke, Syracuse, Gonzaga, Memphis, North Carolina, NONE OF OUR BIG EAST BRETHREN, no one from any of the Power 5 conferences or ANY conference for that matter. No team has done this EXCEPT our Xavier University Musketeers. A tradition of winning second to none.

He would have turned 105 today. That, my friends, makes me feel old.
