I didn't read any of the articles about him until dash posted this one. I wasn't particularly interested in Florida or White, but I thought this article might shed some light on Mack and his interest in the job. It really didn't.

This says it all about "back channel" inquires. Everyone wants plausible deniability if they aren't the guy who gets the job.

"Simple fact finding" and "gathering intelligence" isn't so simple. it also is a veiled term for direct contacts between "representatives" and not the actual guy himself. There were contacts, but the process didn't last more than two days regarding Mr. Mack.
