    Kaiser Gates - SF (Commited)

I didn't see this anywhere. Gates committed to Xavier.

It was all over Twitter the other day. Coach Mack even tweeted out the good news.

    Welcome officially, Kaiser!

Scary situation for Gates last night. Hopefully no underlying conditions.

Down to Atlanta. Decided to take short trip to see Gates play.
Was going to get Muskie to email a press pass listing me as a reporter/writer for XUhoops...figured that would get me into the locker room and I could shoot some horse with Kaiser after the game. But...

Gates played a little in the first half, and a lot more in the second. His coach mentioned he thought he was dehydrated when he left the game the week before. Looked OK tonight.

Smooth player. Was impressed most by his willingness to keep on battling. His team was always going to win against a lower class opponent.
There is a guy playing with him headed to Florida State, another one going to Coastal, and a junior who is the #1 point guard prospect in the state (5 star ESPN). Needless to say their team is loaded.

Was a lot of fun. Hadn't been to a high school game in ages. Gates has soft hands, and good touch, some hops, and is an excellent FT shooter. Moved well, and defended well. I think he'll be a nice addition. Will be a wake up call (as it is for almost all of them) when he gets to D1 and discovers the level of competition, but he is slotted as a SF and reminded me a little bit of Derrick Brown.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

    Thanks Paul.

I think you have a bright future in prospect evaluation if you decide to go that route.
