Since we're all Quarantined in the Coronapocalypse, time to crank this thread back up, since we all need in home entertainment.

First on the new music topic- I have become obsessed with St. Paul and the Broken Bones new albumYoung Sick Camelia. Damn those Alabama dudes are goood.

Also, going old school. I have always been a closet Mark Knopfler fan, and Brothers In Arms just may be the perfect example of Knopfler's understated, guitar style. Just beautiful.

I play bass and Thundercat is my favorite bass player. He is often the bass player of choice for rap and R&B artist (i.e. Kendrick Lamar) when they can get him. His album "It Is What It Is" was released earlier this month and I have really been enjoying it. He's a pretty out there dude and it's not for everyone.

I've been listening to his new album non-stop. It's great. Was not familiar with him before this, so I need go to back and listen to his other albums. Recommendations?
"He's a little bit ball-dominant, he needs to have the ball in his hands, and he's not a good shooter." Ball-dominant … isn't that a nice way of calling someone a ball hog? Where is my Jay Bilas Thesaurus?

If you ever watch Tiny Desk, he performs on one song with Mac Miller called "What's the Use". It's just fun to watch him perform. He comes out with this six string bass and just plays it like he was born with it attached to him This is how I became aware of him.

This is his best album in my opinion. I like his album Apocalypse better than Drunk.

Interesting side note: He was a member of Suicidal Tendencies for several years - 2002 to 2011.

This is not new music at all, well, maybe to some of you who never heard of the the truly great Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher, but if you want some thrills, check his stuff out. He was a guitarists guitarist- and recognized as such by people like Eric Clapton.
We need more great stuff to clear away everyone's pissed off mood right now.

MOR: Knowing that you like Tool - Are you familiar with Coheed and Cambria? I assume yes, but if not you should check them out. Claudio Sanchez has a unique (but amazing) voice. They are an incredible band that never really got their due, IMHO.

What I'm listening to that's new, or new-ish (it's an eclectic Mix):

Jason Isbell: The best folk/country artist around. Period. Quite a catalog of albums already and a new one coming May 15th.
Trivium: New album dropped a few weeks ago. There aren't a lot of modern bands doing Metal very well right now, but these guys are one of them
Cody Jinks: Great country artist that blends 'outlaw' country with folk undertones.
Coheed and Cambria: Phenomenal Prog-metal band. Their most recent album isn't exactly 'new' but it's great.
Sean McConnell: Nashville songwriter that nobody has heard of, but you should. If you like Country / Folk / Americana music check him out.
Bad Religion: These guys are still going at it, and have an album released in 2019. It doesn't break any new ground, but it's a solid album from Punk Rock Icons
Good Riddance: Hardcore punk band that recently reunited and released an album in 2019. It's one of their best. They also have a pretty robust catalog to choose from.
Dragonforce: These guys are kind of a joke band with intentionally cheesy song topics and titles (Sci-fi / fantasy) but there is some great guitar work and soaring choruses and melodies.

The new album from Bronson (a collaboration between Golden Features and Odesza) drops in July. They pre-released a couple tracks this week that are very good though. Worth checking out.

This thread is a constant reminder of how old I am. Thanks a lot.
