For those of you who like the Southern rock, bluesy sound...think (North Mississippi All Stars) check out the Sheepdogs.

For straight rock and roll I think the new (newer) Foo Fighters album Wasting Light is strong as hell.

Despite your incoherent rambling about some narcissistic tendencies late in your original post, give me a heads up when you are playing or "opening" for someone again in Cleveburg.

I need a live music fix, since the last show I went to was to see the consumate musician Bruce Hornsby. Gawd I wish I could play piano like that dude.

Well I can say that on August 12 my little band called The Smug Saints is playing in Lakewood at a place called Merry Arts. We like to party and usually multiply our allotted bar tab by 3 or 4.
    DIG IT!

My Morning Jacket isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I like their new CD Circuital. It takes a couple of listens, but they offer a variety of different sounds throughout the CD.

On a side note, MMJ is coming to Riverbend on August 17th. Whether you like their studio work or not, they are exceptional live and I would suggest anyone give them a chance live, especially if you have nothing better to do on a Wednesday night in August.

You can basically put BIG on any track and make it sound awesome:

    Toro y Moi.

He/they are going to be a MPMF this year in Sept and you all need to go to this show. Saw him/them last night here in Nashville and they straight up killed it. Best show I've been to in a while. Two albums are currently out, Causers of This and Underneath the Pine, get them both and you will not be disappointed.

Most won't say this is new, but R.E.M.'s Life's Rich Pageant has been remastered this year and should be part of everyone's library. Talk about a stellar album that rocks.

    If you like acoustic-y stuff...

    - (Right from Cold Spring KY) Daniel Martin Moore, In the cool of the day
    - (One of the band's I've enjoyed more recently) The Civil Wars, Barton Hollow
    - Jessica Lea Mayfield, Tell Me (go to her show, compliment her, and you might get lucky *wink* she's playing at MPMF)
    - Ha Ha Tonka, Death of a Decade (more americana)

If you like awesome indie rock...

    - Tapes 'n Tapes, Outside (These guys are great live BTW)
    - Gomez, Whatever's on your mind
    - Destroyer, Kaputt (from Dan Bejar, one of the songwriters in New Pornographers)
    - Cake, Showroom of Compassion

If you like clean, songwriter pop...

    - Adele, 21 (it just kind of sucks cuz it's getting over saturated.)
    - Teddy Thompson, Bella (not as crazy as his dad, but still writes catchy pop tunes)
    - The Feelies, Here Before (this would have been punk years ago, no longer)
    - The Cars, Move Like This (only heard one song but loved it)

If you like heady, know it's good, but not sure why stuff...

    - PJ Harvey, Let England Shake
    - Kurt Elling, The Gate (gotta have one jazz album here)
    - Noah and the Whale, Last Night on Earth
    - The High Llamas, Talahomi Way

I also really dig that newer band from England, The Joy Formidable, who will also be playing at MPMF in September. Lots of good music this year.
