I don't trust Amazon with any of my stuff.
My 2 TB external hard drive is the size of a cell phone and can go with me anywhere. And it will last me for the next 10 to 20 years easily.Xavier university. Founded and still living in 1831.

Nope. I pay for my mail service and pay for the server space that comes with it. I don't post many photos on Facebook either and share as little personal info as I can get away with, considering I have off-line relationships with almost everyone listed as a Facebook friend. Someone once invited me to answer a list of questions that looked like an official "Top 15 things people use as passwords" that included high school mascot, first pet's name, birth city, etc. People just don't think.
Yeah, free service is great, and they all tell you "we do not currently use or share personal information nor do we intend to do so in the future" but leave out the part that says "but we certainly intend to if we can find a way to make money from it."

Facebook is the same way. Once you post an image on Facebook, for example, it belongs to them to do with what they want. And deleting an account doesn't mean the same thing to Facebook as it means to you.
My husband works in IT security and it drives him nuts that I have a FB profile because it is considered the least secure website in the world by people in his field.

Maybe I should be more cautious (I am cautious on facebook).
With google, I am confident that they won't leak personal information about me. They are in the advertisement industry, not the espionage. I understand that they have programs which process my emails. But they do so with good intentions (to bring relevant information to me).
I feel the same way about using a Kroger discount card. Yes, they are piling up a lot of information about me. But they are doing that with an intention to satisfy my needs.Last edited by GuyFawkes38; 03-30-2011 at 02:59 PM.
