Interestingly, the move to make tobacco barns black was based on the idea that during Prohibition, black buildings need not signify the existence of the Angel's share spore but rather simply drying tobacco.

Yikes. This isn't good. Not sure about the long term benefit of some of these tariffs.
Seems to be backfiring.
Bourbonman, if you're still in the industry, hope this doesn't impact you directly.

It is fairly easy to demonstrate that tariffs on foreign products hurt US consumers and help US industry, while foreign tariffs on US exports help US consumers and hurt US industry. Supply and demand. And because consumers don't tend to have as much of a lobbying voice as US industry, the political push is always in favor of tariffs on foreign exports to the US, and no tariffs on US exports to foreign nations.

It will make some cringe but I really enjoy a good old fashioned and this made the best one I’ve ever made. I enjoy sipping bourbon most of the time and this was a bit harsh on my throat to drink straight. I personally have a hard time making mixed drinks with expensive (>$50/bottle) liquor bc I’m cheap, but this was delicious.

This may require some in-depth study:

This process has been tried by others already. Cleveland Whiskey has a bourbon that accelerates the process. Some folks may like it. I personally do not.
Technically you can make a bourbon in a millisecond. Bourbon regulations sets no time limit it must be aged. One could take new distillation and run it through a charred new oak barrel from one end to the other and call it bourbon. Now if they want to call it a specific bourbon such a”Kentucky straight” or other specifications, there are minimum requirements to get those designations.
Same with Scotch, Irish and Canadian which basically require 3 year minimums. Many, especially scotch go much longer mainly because they’re matured in used barrels which have lost most of their characteristics that contribute to the flavor and/or color.
In your in depth study, I suggest tasting side by side whiskies they claim to be like to determine how they stand up. Enjoy. It's time for a bourbon on the rocks!
