Xavier comes calling
One of the programs making the choice to leave or stay tougher is Xavier. After a strong showing at the Musketeers' team camp last month Reynolds was extended an offer. Now they sit in a very strong position on his list.
"I was shooting really well," Reynolds said of his camp performance. "I was killing it down there -- tearing it up. Xavier, they stand out pretty good. Xavier is standing pretty tough."

I thought this quote was more telling
"Without question the number one thing he looks for has to be academics," Allie said. "Then we were going to look at the environment surrounding the school, not just on the court but off the court. The big thing is for him to feel comfortable with the coaching staff and make sure that the system he goes to is the right fit for him. He runs 94 feet better than any big in the state, so he needs a system that is going to get up and down and allow him to use all his tools.“Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.” John Wayne

Does anyone think this could turn into a race of who commits first: Sampson or Reynolds?

I think Reynolds might be closer to making a decision then Sampson. If I had to guess Reynolds will be a Muskie.

Not that I have any inside info (FYI - I tend to put info from Sash and J as fairly accurate) but this is kind of my thinking too. I would love to see Sampson be part of this class along with any of the three remaining targets. Dee, Dez, Jakarr would form one heck of a great trio and a 4th player would only strengthen an already terrific class.
If it turned out to be Reynolds, just picture this starting 4 when they're all seniors (assuming all 4 stay that long!):
PG - Davis
SG - Wells
SF - Sampson
PF - Reynolds
C - ??? (Hammons as a Jr.?)
Of course there's a chance we could have guys like DSR, Harris, etc. in the mix too. Mack & Co. have really dialed up the recruiting in a short time running the show.
