Poole checking out IU
Stacey Poole has been on the rise this spring and summer, making a huge splash at the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard from Jacksonville (Fla.) has become a hot commodity on the recruiting scene and Indiana University is right in the mix.
The son of former Florida player Stacey Poole Sr., the younger Poole said IU, Oklahoma, Xavier, Clemson, South Carolina and Florida are among the schools in the mix.
"I know Indiana is a historic school," Poole Jr. said. "It's a basketball school and nothing but basketball. It's a great place and I want to go on a visit sometime. Coach (Tom) Crean is a real good guy and I want to see what Indiana is all about."
When asked to describe himself, Poole said he was "freakishly athletic" and a "very versatile guy."

After looking at all the guys we are either battling for or going after hard in the 2010 class I really think there is no way we dont have a ridiculously talented class.....

On a more serious note, I am still impressed by the quality of the athletes Xavier is pursuing these days. As one who has seen the caliber of athlete brought into Xavier rise substantially from for lowly 70s to today, I still marvel at the improvements.
Even in the days of Pete and Skip, there were players Xavier coaches could never get to see, let alone have on campus for unofficial and official visits with their parents. Both coaches used to sigh when asked if they were able to get a home visit for even a three star recruit, let alone a four or five.
I think that fact is a testimony to Fr. Graham, Mike Bobinski, Thad, Sean and now Chris. It's also a testimony to the improvement of the program and Sister Rose Ann and don't forget to include Cintas and the AFO in the equation. The Xavier program has definitely improved and regardless of the coach gives us reason to be damned proud.:D:D

I was thinking the same thing when I read that. We're talking about a 17-18 year old here with plenty of room to grow both in terms of height and into his body. With a few years to develop behind Jordan Crawford, he'll be a demon by the time he gets unleashed on the starting lineup. I don't pretend to know where we stack up in his recruitment, but if this kid is willing to play our game, it'll show dividends.
Doomed to watch Xavier games on TV since 2008. Still shirtless, though.
