CINCINNATI --- The No. 3 Seed Xavier University Musketeers, 27-9, battle the No. 2 Seed University of Texas Longhorns, 28-8, on Friday night at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo. Xavier and Texas are meeting in a NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinal for the third time. XU won the meeting in 2004 and Texas won in 1990.
Xavier is one of only 11 schools that have made at least seven NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearances in the last 15 tournaments (since 2008). The list includes Kansas (9), North Carolina (9), Duke (9), Gonzaga (9), Michigan State (9), Kentucky (8), Xavier (7), Arizona (7), Wisconsin (7), Syracuse (7) and Michigan (7). Of those 11 schools only Xavier, Michigan State and Gonzaga are still alive in the 2023 Sweet 16.
