If Kriisa also commits to Xavier, his departure from WVU would become an even bigger slap to Huggins’ face and sweet, sweet poetic justice. Sports media would be all over it. Also, as much as Huggins hated X before all of this, imagine how tied in knots he’d become if Kriisa ends up at Xavier. I laugh just thinking about it. Call me childish, but I never say no to a healthy dose of schadenfreude.
That said, I think it’s well within the realm of possibility that committing to X would generate enough buzz that it’d lead to NIL deals on par with that of the alleged $500k from WVU boosters. Sean Miller is no dummy; he’d surely point out to Kriisa the optics that his commitment to X would generate. He’d become a sports media darling.
The only thing is that Sean is pretty good friends with Huggins. They’ve known each other since they were both very young (well, when Sean was very young anyway). Gotta think Sean would tread very lightly with this situation.

Sean will never personally do anything to make Huggins look worse than he already does, but he could very well step in and delicately find a way to reap the benefits of his friend’s misfortune.
Because of their long relationship, I will not be the least bit surprised if we find out that Huggins reached out to Sean for help with damage control.
I do wonder, given E. Gordon Gee's illustrious history with his own comments, if anything will happen at all
Nothing will happen.
Off season and it’s gonna fade away into the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Hugs gets a suspension, $1-mil salary reduction and required sensitivity training.
Doubt this is over yet, tho. I expect the Twitter virgins to focus on WVU’s Nike sponsorship.
Either way, wouldn’t mind being a fly on the wall for Hugs sensitivity training.
For those who are hurt by this and wanting to force change, this punishment still falls short. Only a firing will be seen as "we don't tolerate this behavior."
A guy as wealthy as Huggins, he won't miss that money. Game suspensions at this level won't show anyone that that language has repercussions. He still runs the program.
But this off-season WVU has recruited through the transfer portal what's considered one of the strongest group of five players to ever join a school in one year. Much of that was using hard-raising NIL dollars. The school can't build that kind of support and then have the coach be sent out the door over an insensitive comment. Nobody was killed. If Xavier hoops fans are really injured by this, I'd want to check your pulse.
But social justice warriors view any offending behavior as a reason to cancel a person and this will feel like a slap in the face. They'll keep taking an approach to make more of an example. I'd say the punishment is pretty significant, but to them it won't be.
