That’s not what it is saying at all. It is suggesting more places use a PCR that tests for covid AND the flu. It has no problem distinguishing between the two. Many places use a rapid PCR that tests for covid, influenza a, and influenza b already and have been since early last year. That may even be in this thread way back when. Why don’t you source where you read that CDC stated they cannot distinguish? Unreliable source?

My brother-in-law was supposed to visit this weekend. He works at a hospital a few hours away and it was going to be a nice getaway. Unfortunately he had to cancel since things are too crazy at the hospital….not because of Covid cases coming in, but because it’s going thru the staff like wildfire. They are struggling to do normal things while missing so many employees.

In a Thursday appearance on MSNBC, America's top Covid official, Dr. Anthony Fauci, admitted to a distinction between the number of children hospitalized with Covid as opposed to "because of Covid."
"And what we mean by that: If a child goes into the hospital, they automatically get tested for COVID and they get counted as a COVID-hospitalized individual, when, in fact, they may go in for a broken leg or appendicitis or something like that. So it’s over counting the number of children who are, quote, hospitalized with COVID as opposed to because of COVID," said Fauci.
