Since your response was rather vague, I’ll try to answer it two ways. Yes to a certain extent, the virus will do what its going to do without our involvement. But it’s shortsighted to think we don’t have the tools and resources to improve the vaccines effectiveness and manufacturing process.
Now if you’re talking about our actual capabilities, flu shot is more difficult to alter because of outdated technology and government regulations. Like I said before, we’ve accepted the 40-50% effectiveness results for decades. As for mRNA technology and monoclonal antibodies, absolutely we can.
Not mentioning natural immunity…I did, but that wasn’t the brunt of my rant (think five paragraphs were enough). Hope you don’t think the mutations only effect the vaccines - of course you don’t and silly argument. Don’t have problem at all with those who don’t get the vax because they have natural immunity. Obviously great with the current variants.
Hopefully the future mutated viruses do continue to have mild symptoms. If not, might be some rough sledding for those who say, “but I have natural immunity from a year ago.” Again we’ve had six months to prepare for a better vaccine and we didn’t make it happen. Sad…
