I think it is safe to assume that the answer to those three questions is yes, but what jtg said is still batshit crazy.

I don’t know what the Chewbacca defense is. I don’t even speak Wookie. I do agree the his claims are pretty out there; would you agree that the pandemic reporting would be more factual if Trump wasn’t Prez?
Extraordinarily well said. Thank you.
Yes.
Not sure I totally agree. The media sensationalizes things to drive clicks / engagement. I think they would be covering the Coronavirus with plenty of zeal and fear mongering regardless of who was President. They are definitely reveling in the fact that is making Trump look bad though, I totally agree with that.
I think a big part of the reason Trump is taking a bunch of shit is because I can't imagine any other President being as stupid and inept as has been throughout this. It really is the worse thing that could have happened to him. It required (1) listening to other people, particularly scientists, and (2) having empathy for other people. Not two of his strengths. It was fine when he was just cutting taxes, letting the economy do it's thing, and acting like a jackass on twitter. Then he had to actually coordinate a national response to a crisis and he essentially just opted out.
He is getting a ton of shit from the media because his response has been a mess. I'm sure our resident bootlickers are going to come in here with a bunch of links to Op Ed pieces about how his response has been perfect, but I think it's pretty clear to anybody with a shred of objectivity that there aren't a lot of things he could have done worse.
If you don't know the Chewbacca defense, then you are just depriving yourself of great content. Allow me to brighten your day:

And I am not sure whether it would or not. The reporting was pretty sensationalized for ebola while Obama was president.
I think the issue is that Trump, by his own design, is a media black hole. He is so undisciplined that the media is glued to his every move waiting for the next crazy thing to come out of his mouth. And to a certain extent that has worked for him, as any controversy has quickly faded away into the next one. The problem with COVID19 is that it is a slow moving giant train crash that will not just fade into the background when the collective ADD of the media moves onto the next shinny object.
Thanks, very funny. With that enlightenment I don't think that was the "Chewbacca Defense". If it weren't for the MSM's obsession with burying Trump, and to continue your Star Wars analogy, using their Jedi mind tricks on the weak minded, we as a society would not be nearly as scared of COVID-19 as we are. As to your point on Ebola, I don't recall near the media sensationalism, and for a disease that is actually over 100x as deadly as COVID-19.
Perhaps because we responded better? I think 2 Americans died from Ebola, which the Senator from Iowa characterized as Obama exhibiting failed leadership.
When asked about Trump's leadership with 140,000 dead (and growing) she said he "stepped forward."
I feel confident that if 100,000 Americans had died from Ebola, there would have been a lot more media coverage.
You just beat me to it Paul. I remember following many media stories of Ebola back in 2014 but they quickly faded away when there were only 11 total cases in the US and only 2 deaths. As they say if it bleeds it leads and there clearly wasn't enough blood!
Scratching my head how you could compare the two scenarios based on the actual numbers.
There needs to be some reform with how the media operates. I can’t stand CNN or Fox News because they both vomit their own political biases. It’s just the same as listening to Alex Jones. Report on facts and get rid of the Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon, Tucker Carilson, Hannity type personalities. Does anyone know if there are news stations that just report the facts? I’d like to listen to the news without all the political biases.
BBC America used to be good for straight news. Haven't watched it in a while, though.
One of the most eye opening aspects of this whole thing to me is coming to realize just how awful and misleading the media is. I mean, I never really trusted the media, but I didn’t realize the lengths they would go to to mislead you for clicks or views.
I don’t know what to believe anymore.....
It’s really sad. I had that “awakening” last year from a series of 3 events: the CovCath thing, Jessie Smollett, and the Colorado school shooting where the perpetrator was later found to be a transgender & illegal immigrant. It infuriates me (as if that wasn’t obvious!).
Getting back to COVID, seeing that the CovCath kid has made them pay for slander, I wonder if there’s a way to make them criminally accountable for inducing panic? Or maybe a civil suit for unjust economic damage they have caused? Probably not, but I believe in God. Their day of reckoning will come sometime.
Most of us have dealt with "karma" (maybe in spades). Sometimes it's called "a very tough/life changing learning experience". Please do not bring "GOD" into this particular argument.
Thirteen Felician sisters from one convent died from COVID-19
When dealing with Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, Washington Post, BBC, Breitbart, The Daily Wire, The Guardian, Prager U, etc... there may be one answer.
Don't be so impulsive, and research before you speak. (This goes for the Covington Catholic kids, and COVID-19)
Covid in South Carolina has been a strange ride.
When cases reached 150/day in April, there was a stay at home order, relaxed in 2 weeks, and we stayed at about the same level.
In the beginning of June, it took off to where we now average 2,000 cases/day.
Deaths averaged about 15/day, then they took off 2 weeks ago.
Today, not yet over, is our highest death total of 80.
Think it's going to be hard to open anything really until we do another serious try at getting it under control.
Despite mask requirements in places like Publix and Lowes, there are still lots of people just ignoring it, almost daring someone to say something.
Hope everyone and your families are doing OK.
And Jake Tapper calls himself a journalist...yeah ok. Like at the start of the interview he says he's having audio problems so he can interrupt the guest and ask another question. His only goal is to make Trump look bad, that's it. He doesn't give a crap about the answers his guest is giving him.

You do realize that (once again) the site you have linked to appears to be hilariously and aggressively biased. They also appear to be selling merch (?) which makes me wonder if they are really a 'media watchdog' or more of a lifestyle brand for conservatives who have worked themselves into a frenzy over media bias.
I also think there is an inherent irony in calling out bias in the media via a clearly biased media source. Just like the mainstream media is marketing to the majority of people that don't like Trump your alternative media is marketing to you. You just don't care because you (presumably) agree with it.
If people really want to force an unbiased (or less biased) Media then we need to reject biased media / reporting on both sides of the political spectrum, not just by selecting the bias that we want to engage with.
When it comes to dealing with COVID, we really suck at it.
That is all.
I understand that this is difficult for some of you to understand, but I don't really have a side. The great thing about life is that you can choose how you want to think on individual issues. You don't have to rely on people spoon feeding you what to think. I also don't place much stock in what Huffington Post says, for example, for the same reason. They aren't a real news source and make no attempt at objectivity.
For one thing, the article seems to take everything Giroir says as factual without verification, while assuming that everything Tapper did (including his audio problems) had malicious intent.
It contains quotes like this:
And this:Quote:
uring a Sunday interview with the Coronavirus Task Force’s Admiral Brett Giroir, MD, CNN’s State of the Union host and political activist (not a journalist) Jake Tapper assailed the Admiral with conspiratorial accusations of withholding information and not pushing President Trump, lies about testing, and claims his guest “spent this entire interview talking about how great and perfect everything is.” But Admiral Giroir was having none on Tapper’s shrill nonsense and called him out for lying.
I get that they are just trying to get old white dudes riled up enough to buy a T-shirt for $20, but come on. The 'article' is literally complaining about Media Bias while being unapologetically biased.Quote:
Acting like a jerk, Tapper lashed out at the Admiral and declared: “Invoke the DPA so that commercial labs all over the country, ones you are not using, five veterinary labs is not impressive to me, sir.”
This gives us reason to be optimistic. In six months, we will know whether or not the vaccine can work for six months!

Apparently the Pharma execs are very optimistic... about making money now:

If my company really is about to develop a vaccine for the Tony Mandarich virus (look it up kids), I’m holding.
This is a study that tested COVID patients with molecular and antibody testing after recovery. There were 9 patients that continued to test positive with the molecular test, and the specimen was then tested for viral activity, which was negative. This confirms the thought that the false positives after recovery are due to residual viral genetic material that is not due to active viral infection, and their transmission risk is considered low.
They also tested titers of antibodies to determine what should constitute immunity, which is interesting.
Yea pretty much that retesting using a PCR test (nasal swab) after a positive test is pointless and has little to no bearing on whether that person is contagious. It’s not really a new concept, just confirming a hypothesis for the most part. Also this makes any policy requiring a negative test before returning to employment (or school) pointless and possibly detrimental.
I think testing titers belongs in a different forum. Maybe one that charges admission.

As other countries face renewed outbreaks, Sweden’s latest Covid-19 figures suggest it’s rapidly bringing the virus under control.
“That Sweden has come down to these levels is very promising,” state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell told reporters in Stockholm on Tuesday.
The Health Agency of Sweden says that since hitting a peak in late June, the infection rate has fallen sharply. That’s amid an increase in testing over the period. “The curves are going down and the curves for the seriously ill are beginning to approach zero,” Tegnell said.
Have we fixed COVID yet?
Since their last report on 7/20, the NBA has had zero positive tests in their bubble. Now, they’re in Florida which is a bit of a hot mess right now but if they keep their bubble intact they are looking good, although very early in the process.
Why can’t MLB and the NFL do this on a larger scale? They are going to look silly if the NBA is successful and they don’t implement something similar.
