Is Hunter Dickinson the new Timme?
Big East has two well oiled machines this year. What Shaka has built there is impressive.
I would have lost a bet if you told me Kolek would end up this good.
Purdue hangs on to beat Marquette. Edey finishes with 28. Purdue will be the number one on Monday.
What was kam jones doing that last possession?
Was checking today's scores at ESPN.com, noticed FAU won the Disney Thanksgiving event and was wondering about their schedule. They actually have a pretty interesting schedule this year. Bringing back most of a Final Four team will do that for you, I guess.
They opened against Loyola at DePaul's home court (Wintrust). They just finished up three games at Disney World (wins over Butler, #12 Texas A&M and a rout of VaTech). In a week they'll play Illinois at MSG. 11 days later St. Bonny in Springfield, MA. And 7 days after that Arizona in Las Vegas.
Puzzling loss to Bryant notwithstanding (how did they only score 52 against that team?!?), we'll certainly know a lot about FAU's team by Christmas.
Also, I just learned that Fran Dunphy is coaching LaSalle. I'm sure it was in the coaching carousel thread at some point, but I guess I missed it. That has to be a record for most D-I head coaching job switches without actually having to move. Hopefully he's still got time to get a few games in at St. Joe's and Villanova to complete the Big Five circuit. Maybe throw Drexel in for fun, too.
What Shaka has built in a short amount of time is very impressive indeed! Not sure why Xavier cannot get to this point or the last time we were ranked in the top 5. Either way, we should be consistently good and not a Big East sleeper. You cannot tell me that Xavier cannot get the same type of talent the teams like Marquette and Creighton get. UCONN and Villanova have the name recognition and the history. Why we do not continue to reload every year as a basketball first school is beyond me.
