However, Lou has been likely correct then about the vaccine effectiveness. I’m probably going to regret that sentence. :)

For the record, it appears that the UK has about 63% of their pop fully vaxxed vs 51.5% for the US.
In looking at raw numbers only, you are 100% correct. There are 25,536 vaxxed cases, and 147,612 unvaxxed cases. However, there were two points I wanted to convey here:
1) There is a perception that almost everyone who is getting Covid are unvaccinated. The data coming out of Israel and the UK - who are ahead of us on the vax timeline - is proving this is false.
2) The vaccine is definitely showing signs of failing several months after being jabbed. There is also the perception that almost all deaths or hospitalizations are unvaccinated. Again, this UK data shows otherwise.
In looking at the number deaths compared to cases for each group, it appears that you have 5 times the chance of dying with the vax than without. Now, I would argue it's very likely that the reason there is such a large discrepancy is that it was the very old and those with comorbidities that were the first in line to get the vax back in the early winter. And because we've seen that the efficacy of the vax begins to wane after 5 or 6 months, it is these people who are now catching the Delta, and who are now dying. The data suggests that this might be the case. 84% of all vaxxed Delta cases are >50, compared to just 2.3% of cases among unvaxxed cases.
Kabul airport looks like a superspreader event. That's on Biden.
Of course they do when you consider the media is outright lying by misrepresenting the data. Here's the key quote - read this carefully:
"ADPH reports that between April 1 and Aug. 18, a total of 89.8% of the state’s coronavirus cases were among those who were unvaccinated against the disease. In the same time period, ADPH reports that 94.1% of all COVID-19 deaths were among those who were not vaccinated."
They're rigging the analysis by including the bulk of cases and deaths before people had a chance to get fully vaccinated, and more importantly, have had enough time to see the efficacy of the vaccine begin to wane.
The real question is what are the numbers in recent weeks? That way we can get a true apples-to-apples comparison. I don't know the answer for Alabama, but I have been tracking Massachusetts because they are reporting break-through cases, hospitalizations and deaths. This state (I'm not aware of any others) allows us to make true apples-to-apples comparisons. Over the last 2 weeks, 34% of all cases, 28% of hospitalizations, and 30.5% of all deaths are among the vaccinated. I believe these numbers will get worse for the vaccinated as time goes by.
Is she hospitalized or dying?
I got vaccinated to help my odds for when I inevitably got the virus. I don’t recall anybody EVER saying it made you “safe” but I’ll settle for “safer”. I’m almost positive I had it when it was brand new and not all over the news. I had my two Pfizer shots, and if they say get a booster, I’ll be there.
Florida is a MESS right now. Our DIL got a text from her sister there. Ms Super Anti Vax has changed her tune and gotten her first shot, as has the DIL here. They have 7 family members who tested positive and a close freind in Orlando who is brain dead. Another friend was bitten badly by a dog (long story) and there were no ambulances to get her to the hospital (busy with Covid) so a fire truck took her. She has potential nerve damage in her hand, but they can’t perform surgery for at least 3 weeks. She works for a urologist who cannot perform surgery for prostate cancer because the rehab facilities are overwhelmed with Covid patients. She was told at Sarasota Memorial Hospital that 250 people had died of Covid there in the previous 48 hours. They have rented refrigerated trucks for the bodies.
The NBC nightly news just reported that Florida hospitals claim 90% of their Covid patients are unvaccinated. NO, I don’t blindly trust that, or the numbers of some of the obsessed posters here. But if I listen enough, it becomes clear TO ME that the vax is far more likely to help than to hurt.
We also have a close friend who is a teacher down there. She was vaxed but caught it anyway. She was not at all surprised and glad she had the shots to hopefully reduce the severity. The shots are not a perfect prevention, but they can help from everything I’ve seen.
I guess you don't understand that it takes someone with covid to spread it. Because the unvaccinated are far more likely to get infected, a campus without any unvaccinated population within it is far less likely to experience infections. Obviously everyone on campus will still interact with people from off campus who may be unvaccinated, it won't be a pure "bubble". But I like the odds of a generally healthy campus with the mandate in place than without a mandate.
BTW, who's Clark?
