So Bobby, what if your Dr. told you that you had COVID-19, and he/she told you that you are a excellent candidate to have positive benefits from the hydroxyquinoline, would you take it?

I don't think anyone would take particular issue with Trump (or anyone else) taking hydroxychloroquine if prescribed by a Doctor. I think people are taking more issue with his touting it as some kind of major breakthrough in treatment or prevention of COVID-19 for whatever reason drives him to do so. Hopefully people's Doctors don't start recklessly prescribing it to people who shouldn't be taking it, but some Doctors are also reckless.
Being the President of the United States of America used to mean thinking carefully before you spoke, not giving false hope or making misleading statements, etc. It doesn't mean that anymore. At least not right now. I don't really care that much about this personally - This probably isn't even in the top 50 of ridiculous shit Trump has said / done this year, but I can see why people do.
One thing that has been baffling to me, as someone who works in the skilled nursing facility industry and has had employees who had symptoms and/or tested positive and went to their PCPs, is how little a lot of the PCPs know about COVID-19 and the proper instructions to give regarding time off from work (especially for healthcare workers) etc.
The PCP's have been all over the board in regards to getting someone tested or not tested, their return to work recommendations (which at times seem to be rooted only in their opinion and nothing recommended by CDC), how long to quarantine etc. It is just truly baffling. We have given our employees guidance from the CDC for healthcare workers returning to work etc to take with them to show their PCP's if they are sick and/or getting tested.
Quick example.... We had one employee who was sick, went to see her PCP who said he didnt want to test her (he didnt know where to send her is what I gathered) and told her to take a couple days off and return to work in 3-4 days. Doing the extensive amount of research of ODH and CDC guidelines we have done and are doing as a company, and knowing our employees risk of exposure in a SNF and her risk to bringing it in, we knew this couldn't fly. We had the employee talk to her PCP again, educate him with regards to our information and her risks etc and tell him where we have had other employees tested and then he wrote an order for her to be tested. She then tested positive. Can you imagine her going back into a nursing home with his original recommendation if we/she didnt push him for testing and educate him? Then he wrote he off for an amount of time that also didn't follow any recommended guidelines, especially for healthcare workers.
It has been maddening the inconsitencies with the PCPs and what they know and dont know. Also I Have had to contact several different county health departments for various reasons and they all do things differently as well and different from what ODH recommends. Craziness.
Did you ever work for P&G? That post was quite acronymy. :)
We require to be at least 7 days from the time of diagnosis and at least 72 hours completely symptom free (no fevers, no symptoms, at all). Whichever time frame is greater. Then all contact tracing is done and anyone deemed a contact risk must self-isolate for 14 days before returning to work.
This is a real disease and it is bad. Excluding people that work in my clinics or that I know from Healthcare, I know 4 people who have died from this.
27 yo Pilates instructing returned from trip to China. Dead 2 weeks later
43 yo previously healthy man. Rapid pulmonary symptoms. Dead 4 days later
Man in his 60s. Feel broke his hip at home. Made it through the surgery okay. When to long term rehab center. Got Covid at that facility. dead 2 weeks later.
Man in his 70s in my neighbor. Daily jogger. Caught it from somewhere. Dead a few weeks later.
If you include healthcare and patients, this list grows a lot.
For what it is worth after reviewing the studies and evidence I am aware of, I personally would take hydroquinone, zinc, and a z-pack the second I tested positive and had mild symptoms. It seems to have the best success when done early. I would not take the drug prophetically to prevent disease based on current data.
Two different policies, two different results.

I 100% agree. That was a huge mistake that makes no sense to me at all. I can only assume that they were preparing for such a deluge of cases in hospitals (cases that in almost all instances never came) that they didn't want to use up space and beds on non-critical patients so the began discharging people wherever they could, including nursing homes. There was enough data at the time from China and Seattle that they should be been able to formulate a better response.
I live in Camden County and we have 279 deaths from COVID with 200 of those coming from Long Term Care facilities. It's outrageous and a complete failure.
Just curious. One study I saw that was done with a veteran's group with Covid, said the incidence of death increased taking the hydroquinone.
Edit: maybe you're saying you need to take it real early after diagnosis to be effective?

You know a dermatologist has had input when we start using hydroquinone in place of hydroxychloroquine!
I guess my take is that I have been using hydroxycholoquine for over 20 years. About 17 years in the world of dermatology. Rheumatology probably uses the drug the most in modern medicine. Derm is probably the specialty that uses it the second most frequently, and I have a lot of patients I see and manage that take it. In almost 20 years I have not seen a single, significant adverse event in a single patient that I can blame on this drug.
In my assessment and experience with the drug there is an exceedingly small risk which does not exceed the potential benefit based on In-Vitro data and some studies. Therefore, I would take it early in the game should I have to make such a decision. It would be for 1 week. It will either work, or it won't.
Thanks.
I’m curious about what people here think.....
Our son has a wedding scheduled for 8/28 at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. The hotel is to reopen 6/1 and they have until 5/28 to cancel with a full refund. They have the option to back out and pick a future date, probably next spring. (How do you know it’s fine in the spring?) The actual church wedding will be just parents only mid August, so they’ll already be married and this is the public service and reception with 100-150 people. The hotel will be checking everyone’s temp at the door.
One of the bride’s sisters is stirring the pot, saying it’s unsafe to take their 77 year old father to a large gathering like that. Her parents have previously said they were cool with everything, but now signs the mom is wavering as the sister gets to her. She’s saying you might kill dad by getting married in August.
You want everyone to be safe, and you don’t want to create a rift in the family. My son is asking me what I think they should do. I tell him you’re the people getting married so it’s your decision. My 92 year old mother is fine with it. I can see both sides.
What would YOU do?
So, by saying this you are actually spouting the typical liberal line that the general public is stupid and cannot make rational decisions for themselves. They will only do what they are told to do by Big Brother Government- whoever that Big Brother Government might represent. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? You know- making decisions for yourself after reviewing all of the pertinent data?
I kind of lean to the side that folks are more responsible and don't monkey copy everything they've heard. As usual, they are smarter than the lemmings that the Left..and their lapdog media...think they are.
And that's why Trump got elected.
BOOM!!!!
That is a tough situation. Why does your son's fiance think? You can't go forward though imo if multiple people in the family think the dad wont be safe to go. It is a lose lose situation. If it just the sister feeling that way probably can get away with it but if multiple people including the mom feel that way you either force the issue and there is tension at the wedding, or he doesnt come (not good), or if he does end up sick they'd have family blaming them for the rest of their lives. If you can get everyone on board and feeling comfortable it is a moot point though and you are good to go. Is the mom that old too or is she a lot younger than the dad? He must have had kids later in life?
Just curious, why is there a separate church wedding with just parents mid August? Is that related to coronavirus? Or some other reason?

Pennsylvania has more COVID deaths over age 100 than under age 45.
More deaths over age 95 than under age 60.
More deaths over 85 than under 80.
This makes very little sense and nowhere did I state any of the things that you inferred below. It seems you are pretty proud of yourself for this reach, since you ended it with a giant 'Boom'. Good for you. Sounds like you've had a full day today already and it's not even 9:30!
The separate church wedding is because the Catholic Church apparently doesn’t recognize outdoor weddings, they want it indoors, preferably in a church. (I did not know this and it seems silly to me.) The Grove Park has a great room for the reception, but the actual ceremony will be outdoors. To change the room over from ceremony setup to reception creates a delay and difficulties. It can be overcome in the event of inclement weather, but it’s not ideal. We have arranged for our favorite priest to be in Asheville for the service there.
Both kids are very into their family and their faith, so they want to do it right. A big part of this is the sister who is so sure she is right about everything driving the problem. There are SIX daughters, and she tells everyone else how to live, from being vegetarian (that salmon you ate was someone’s mother!”) to the only kind of dog to own (which is in her mind a labradoodle). If she told me not to touch the hot stove, I just might do it.
The “kids” want to go ahead and do it as planned. Their friends have flights booked, rooms reserved, etc. The under 30 crowd is not afraid of this stuff, but she IS concerned for her father and would never forgive herself if something happened to him. Having said that, they could put it off a year and have no guarantees. Life does not work they way.
I personally think the mortality rate is grossly overstated because you can count deaths, but the math does not include likely millions of people who have been exposed/infected but are not included. But that’s just me, and I understand it is still very real. I’m keeping out of it and telling them it’s their lives and their decision. Be sure it’s something you can live with, and I’ll be there whenever you decide to do it. I’d lean more towards a delay, but when is it really “safe”?
I don't see where I ever made that statement. Also, didn't a couple of people in Arizona ingest fish tank cleaner because they thought it had Hydroxycholorquine in (admittedly) after hearing Trump promote it? Those guys are probably more candidates for the Darwin award than anything else.
You did make an unintentional point that I am fascinated by, though. Namely, how thoroughly Trump has cuckolded the Republican party. The Republican party that I used to belong to was the party of Reagan, not the party of Trump. How did things get so broken that so many of you literally will support ANYTHING that Trump says or does? You know that you don't have to do that right? You can think he is a good President without supporting every action he takes or statement he makes.
You know why I support Trump now? Because we had to suffer through a decade of McCain, Bush, Romney, etc. bowing to the Democrats in fear of being labeled a racist or a sexist or a whatever. Trump doesn't apologize for standing up to the Dems. Does he say and do some crazy shit? Yes. Does he advocate for positions or policies I dislike? Yes. But he fights back and that's what people want.
Look at Romney. He was called a moron for his stance on Russia. He was labeled a uncaring millionaire asshole for being rich. He was labeled a sexist for some stupid non-story on his "binder of women." Now he's a champion of the left because he's an absolute pansy. Look at Dewine, he was voted out of the Senate for not standing up to the left. And now we are dealing with his bullshit again of raising taxes, raising the smoking age, trying to enact gun restriction laws, and now his covid response. Trump isn't the ideal Republican or ideal politician but he fights back.
Trump is losing his mind. Just look at his latest position on voting by mail. He voted by mail recently in the Florida primary. Now he sez he will withhold federal funds to Michigan and Nevada bcuz they sent out "applications" for absentee ballots. Of course he had that all wrong by saying they were sending out mail-in ballots. Four other RED States have done exactly the same thing. Mail-in is a great, easy way to vote. What are the 'pubs afraid of. More absurdity and hypocrisy from the WH. "Do as I say, not as I do". Total bullshit.
Wait...what??? We're you not paying attention during Obama's Presidency?? If you dared challenge him on public policy, you were labeled a racist. If you were black and didn't support him, you were labeled an Uncle Tom. My god don't tell me that you think that 'blind faith following' is more prominent under Trump than it was under Obama. This is simply today's political climate and it is absolutely not exclusive to Trump supporters. For every cuckolded Trump supporter, there's at least 1 Trump hater that is equally as blinded in their hatred. This is not a Trump issue...this is who we are as an electorate today.
So you love to stand in the rain and snow for hours with diseased covid carriers to cast your ballot? It's a "common sense" issue of which there is none in this administration.
What the hell is this thread about again???
I follow this chart most days.
It's interesting that each week looks like a skyscraper, but at least it's trending down:
