I really don't get the whole "Screw it, let's just let COVID have it's way with us" approach. I supposed surrendering to inevitably and casting yourself upon the hands of fate is a great way of rationalizing it when you'd rather not continue to alter your life.

We have an (essentially) 100% effective vaccine in record time. What science has done here is really pretty amazing.

We're not allowed to have a problem with his actions, but he's allowed to have a problem with ours?

I personally do think that things like going to a restaurant and eating indoors or going to a gym represent an unnecessary risk right now. I understand that others don't. Yeah I think that is the big part and I meant to include that in my previous post. That seems like your biggest issues and would be mine as well. If you are going to socialize with someone you would hope that all parties would be honest in what they are doing at other times so you can decide if thats something you want to risk.

Honestly seeing anyone who you don't live or work with is a risk but most people are taking that risk with close people that they trust are doing other things they are comfortable with. I spent Thanksgiving and Christmas at my parents house and they are very social people normally in their normal lives. They haven't obviously been as much in COVID but still are more so than I am due to my risks. My parents and brothers got tested before I came over those Holidays and they mostly stayed home leading up to it. I appreciated all that because it allowed me and my family to spend the holidays with them.

No, again his problem was with his family and their actions, not you or your actions. So again, exactly like I said, you are projecting his feelings about his family and their actions onto yourself.

Also weird considering he has made it abundantly clear his biggest issue wit his family is them lying to his parents about their activities and exposure.

Do you actually think most people are living in a bubble type environment? Also, do you expect them to?

There's 365 million people in the US - the concept of controlling that many people to do the same thing is ludicrous. I have no clue why smart people can't realize that MOST people are doing things everyday to put themselves at risk, just like we do ANYWAY without covid. People want this wholesome, risk-free utopia - it's completely and utterly un-realistic.

Exactly most people have to do things everyday that put them at risk and the majority are doing things they don't have to do that is also putting them at risk. No issue there. People have to decide what risk they are willing to take for themselves. And as long as someone who is less risky who you want to spend time with knows what risks you are taking and is ok with them as well then spend time with whoever you like.
