I think it's hilarious that people think the majority of people in this world can just hunker up in their house and assume life just goes on.

MOST people in this world were having to survive even before surviving a pandemic. This is just double survival for them.

If you are at a point in life where you can take reasonable precautions with isolation while still making a living, consider yourself blessed. Most people you know probably can do that - most people in reality can't.

It's one thing to go to a 2,000 person concert (stupid) - quite another to have to get out and work or care for others everyday among hundreds or thousands of people. There is some in between as well. Those people don't deserve shame at all.

The federal and state response approached this in such a backwards manner by referring to money provided to businesses and people as stimulus or relief. They need to call this what it is, a government taking. To better the public good, you want bars to close, fine the pay them not to be open. You think it is necessary for the good of the state or country to tell John Doe not work right now, fine pay him not to work. Instead we have what amounts to unfunded mandates whose costs are being borne small businesses and individuals who are in the worst position to take on these costs for the good of the rest of society.

I don't disagree. You can't ask people to give up their livelihoods and means of providing without some drastic assistance.

It's mind boggling that people think people can actually do this without completely digging themselves an enormous hole. The shamers are the most out-of-touch people there are.

For the record, I’m not for shutting down anything but the most obvious situations (like large concerts as you mention above). I’m out and about every day, as is my family. My son had to fly to Chicago for work recently. He said he felt as safe there as he did at the grocery store. I don’t shame anyone for doing what they have to do.

My problem is with the arrogant deniers who think they know better than everyone else. Despite the signs at the grocery store and elsewhere requiring masks, they feel that doesn’t apply to them. Whole Foods was giving away masks to people who didn’t have them. I saw people take their mask and put it on then take it off 10 feet inside the door. If there is some legitimate medical or emotional reason for that, fine. If you just believe it’s a hoax or just don’t like wearing a mask, then shame on you. It’s not that hard to carry on and still play by a reasonable set of rules in the current environment.

Yeah agreed.

And I am so sick of people BS'ing that they have some medical condition why they can't wear a mask. I have patients with asthma and COPD who can wear a mask just fine. We have older people doing therapy (physical activity) with a mask with no issues. And the people claiming medical issues are screaming and hollering about it just fine at the top of their lungs.

Good grief, stop with the lie! Masks DO NOT WORK! Show me the proof that they work.

There are 23.6 million reported cases in the US right now. The CDC said in November that the actual number of cases is likely 8X the number of reported cases. That means that roughly 189 million people have had the virus - or roughly 57% of the population. Please, how can anyone say that masks are working? Especially when you consider that most people in the country are reporting that they wear them / or you see nearly everyone wearing them in grocery stores and restaurants, etc..
