So if you really need to prevent the bucket and drawing a charge isnt an option, then laying the wood becomes plan A. The reason the help defender charge is ridiculous is that it is not a basketball play. It’s a guy sliding into a spot to take a charge. I agree there is some skill involved in this but it is not a basketball skill. These guys are so fast and athletic it is an extremely difficult play to officiate correctly. The last thing we need are more replays.
