Yeah Nick. The Flagrant call was as bad if not worse than the call at the end.
What was Kalkbrenner supposed to do there after he initially got hooked? Not turn around either way to get back up the court to play defense? I would have called a double common foul there and let it go. Kalkbrenner does not have the Rep as a dirty player and Creighton barely ever fouls.
A very very suspect call to me.
BTW. Gene Steratore adds nothing to those broadcasts. A total shill for the zebras on the court.

I think live ball timeouts are equally as stupid. Basketball is the only sport that has them. A quarterback that's about to get sacked can't just yell for a timeout. A batter that pops it up in baseball can't just yell for a timeout. No other sport on the planet that I can think of allows for live ball timeouts. But in basketball, the defense can make a great play, trap someone, and they can just call timeout and get out of it. That's bullshit too!! I say once the ball has been inbounded, timeout cannot be called.

Agree totally with this. They partially addressed it when they disallowed a guy in the air jumping out of bounds to call a time out, but didn’t go far enough.
By the way. That jumping out of bounds timeout rule *arguably* won us the 1999 Shootout when Lloyd “Staggerlee” Price was allowed the T.O. under the Clifton CC basket.

I really don't like this NIL thing, and I think it's only going to get worse the longer it goes on. Every top player is going to have an agent and will be attempting to renegotiate their NIL compensation every year.

Agree. Wait till you see all the guys that hit the portal this week. Players are going to be looking to get paid. NIL will probably drive some coaches out of the game. I can’t imagine having to deal with it. I am all for guys getting compensated but there has to be be some more rules around it or it.

I think it's about to extend beyond the NIL. We have seen the NIL legislation begin to play out. We nave not yet seen the ruling in the Alston Case play out. But that is only a matter of time, and I think that time is coming sooner rather than later. It's just a matter of who does it first.

Basically, the Alston Case was a 9-0 SCOTUS ruling AGAINST the NCAA that said having rules against paying players is illegal. So...who's going to be first? Who will be the first school or conference to say "We are paying our players! And if the NCAA tries to stop us, we will take it to court and refer them to the ruling in the Alston Case!"

That day is coming. Probably soon. And we all know it. And like the NIL, (and the cost of living legislation before that) once one school or conference steps up and is the first one to do it, within one year 100+ other schools will do the same thing.

You've got a lot of disposable income if you pay one guy $800k to play for 2 years.
Heck, you could give it to the school to fund a boatload of scholarships for regular folks.

Have you seen the new TV contracts?

Obviously a different iteration when it comes to UConn but when they win the championship, a member of the big East will have won 7 of the last 24 championships. The little ten has 1 lol.
