I do. It’s a virus, we have lots of viruses. Things kill people. The flu continues to, drugs an alcohol do, people driving cars do, People kill themselves. I think it’s great we are being proactive but I also think killing an economy and inducing panic is not good for anyone. I am willing to bet that in a few months the numbers will look very small as far as number of people who actually get sick and number of deaths from this, but the impact of loss of jobs, crime and people’s savings gone down the drain will be felt much greater. Oh and the number of people dying from the flu and for other reasons will continue to be much greater.

NYC resident here. I'm not sure about the projections but I'd be really skeptical of the confirmed cases at this point. I know 3 people who are confirmed to have it but many more who are experiencing symptoms that haven't been tested. I know NYC is a clear hotbed and is more dangerous than other parts the country right now, but I'm concerned for other cities.

Also where'd you get the 40k number for China? I haven't seen anything close to that number.

Along these lines, there WILL come a time more than 6 weeks from now but less than 6 months from now when, if this thing is not under control, people are going to say fuck it and just get on with their lives. And if people get sick and die, people get sick and die. The world can't go on like this forever. And it won't.

Italy is 40K and China is 80K. Point still remains that throwing a 25M number around is ridiculous. Total world confirmed cases are near 260K.

I will humbly say I don't know where this is going to go. We're all on the same team here and I hope you're right.

At this rate, if everything is shut down by the government, there will be no businesses and jobs to come back to. These politicians have jobs for life (more or less) and are financially secure. It's easy for them to just shut things down and look like they're being strong. Shutting things down and throwing out insane amounts of government dollars at the problem is easy. Fixing this shit for the years to come will be impossible and none of them are thinking of that and nor do they care.

Yes I am staying home for the most part. Do I go to the grocery? yes, the drug store, yes, the gas station yes. I'm pretty familiar with germs and their transmission, I volunteer at a childrens hospital twice a week. I have used sanitizer probably 50 times a day at the hospital. Will the virus affect a small % of the population ? Yes. Maybe 1%.The damage will be a ruined economy and that will affect all 330,000,000 Americans. Like someone else pointed out, after a few months of this lunacy, people will say screw it, and go back to what ever is left to go back to. All because the whiney, everyone gets a trophy, I'm afraid of my shadow segment of the population got their hands on the wheel and drove our economy off a cliff. Currently .001% of the pop is affected, not dead, affected.

To be clear, I'm in favor of the current measures...for now. I just know they can't last forever. And shouldn't.

Every piece of data shows exponential growth. You know how exponential growth works, right?
