I recently got a year free of that from some other promotion. Don’t think I’ve watched anything on it at this point.

Xavier would even avoid Maui and Atlantis just to avoid an 8-team field? I get not wanting to play in a tournament like Myrtle Beach/Charleston for the reasons you mentioned, but tournaments like the PK Legacy don't come around too often.
You'll also have events like the Wooden Legacy, Preseason NIT, Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City that can still give you 2 MTE neutral-court games plus 2 MTE-related bye games. What I DON'T want is a repeat of the 2020-21 multi-team tournament in Cintas (although that was more due to Covid) that just has buy game-level opponents.
According to the article in todays Cincinnati.com, Miller is not satisfied with the roster depth of the Xavier team right now. He will be looking to build that depth to a point where the subs are actual assets and not liabilities. That may take 1-2 recruiting cycles, but once he has the depth where he wants it, I think he may reconsider participating in the larger field tournaments.
Per Rothstein:
Matchups are set for 2023 Big East-Big 12 Battle, per sources.
UConn at Kansas

Houston at Xavier
Villanova at Kansas St
SJU at WVU
Creighton at Oklahoma St
PC at OU
Iowa St at DePaul
TT at Butler
TCU at Georgetown
SHU at Baylor
At least they didn't just call UC our Big 12 opponent. Will Houston be any good next year? Hard to tell for pretty much any team until the smoke clears on the portal.
Kelvin Sampson Appreciation Night!
What this tells me, Houston very good in B12 basketball. By not having SucKs playing in series, not so much…conference doesn’t want to get embarrassed.
Clifton Community College overlooked.
UC, Central Florida and Texas Tech were all left out. One-time thing because this is the one season where the Big 12 will have 14 teams until Texas/Oklahoma head to the SEC.
