I don't see the note, but I think the spike was New Jersey dumping in on one day a boatload of cases they had failed to report.

At any rate, it you were to do a running 7 day average of the chart you posted, it would support what I said.
Around 500/day average on July 4th, and 1000/day now. If you can access it, here's what it looks like:

You happened to pick the trough in the number of daily deaths as a comparison point. From my POV, using the flat line trend in daily case counts that I mentioned in my previous post, which lasted from roughly early-May thru mid-June, is almost an exact mirror of the last 3 or 4 weeks. If we were to believe the experts, the number of deaths per day should be in the 3000 to 4000 range.

CBS news reports that masks don’t work.

At least indirectly by their latest fear porn. After 5 months it’s been “discovered” that COVID-19 transmits in aerosols. 6 feet is not enough! But if true, aerosols go right through all but the N95 masks.

So which way do they want it - aerosol transmissions or masks?

You do realize that masks can be effective even if something transmits through aerosols, right?

1. Diseases that transmit through aerosols also generally transmit far more effectively through respiratory droplets. Even if masks don't do much to help reduce aerosols the reduction in respiratory droplets (still believed to be the main method of transmission) would make mask wearing prudent

2. While aerosols can penetrate a cloth mask, there is still expected to be a reduction in aerosols due to the cloth mask

Since aerosol spread generally requires a significant amount of aerosols be present in the air to drive effective spread it would suggest that masks probably help, but are by no means a foolproof preventative measure. It also suggests that spending a lot of time indoors in poorly ventilated areas with lots of people may cause COVID spread even it people are wearing masks. That's not the same thing as masks not working though.

No, masks are completely ineffective at stopping aerosols. If COVID spreads by aerosols and droplets, it’s transmission is like influenza. Masks don’t help influenza transmission. See Juice’s sources in post 2415.

I'm speaking more to the fact that yesterday, he decided that a week before catholic schools were supposed to open up here, it is recommended they wait 6 weeks. Update...the archdiocese in so many words told beshear hes an overreaching dictator with zero jurisdiction over what the catholic schools decide, and the in person reopening schedule and plan will move forward next week.

Are you referencing the twitter feed of the guy who's whole twitter feed is about how COVID is concocted by the media, or the WHO article. If it's the WHO study I'll take your word for it. I'm not reading 50 pages. It does seem that the study they lean on most heavily only analyzed home transmission of influenza, and not public transmission which is really what seems to be at issue for COVID.

I think it seems evident at this point the COVID spreads differently from influenza based on the speed and breadth of spread. It's unclear exactly how. At a minimum I think it's reasonable to assume that wearing a facemask would, at a minimum, help reduce the droplet spread, particularly in public places and with relatively limited exposure times.

So he was never hospitalized, yet it was pretty serious? Ok.

He also took a Z-pak, why didn’t he say that the Z-pak “worked for me”? Azithromycin has anti-inflammatory properties too even though it is an antibiotic.

I’m not anti-HCQ, just sick of people using bits and pieces of stories to promote a narrative in either direction.

He actually doesn't believe it was a hoax or anything like that but simply that we shouldn't destroy our economy/society because of it.
