Heading into next year’s presidential election, Republicans have been readying a three-pronged attack: crime soaring in cities, chaos raging at the southern border and prices spiralling out of control everywhere. But each of these narratives is being disrupted by facts on the ground: crime is falling in most parts of the country, there is relative calm at the border and inflation is at a two-year low.
It's the same headline in yesterday's NYT.
When Trump went around the country saying crime was up, and it wasn't, that's just an unreality that's hard to crack.
When he said our country was broken and in decline, we were leading every other developed nation in recovery from the pandemic.
You see the challenge in your "reasons." They often are incorrect, but whomever provides your news has convinced you they are real.
My “news”? No it’s my reality Paul and so is it everyone else’s.
My grocery bill for my family of four has easily doubled. It’s not gone down at all.
Crime is up all over my city including the upper middle class suburb of where I live.
Public schools in my state as well as the state of my family ( mo, pa) are trying very hard to indoctrinate children, it’s why my children will never step foot in a public school.
I could go on and on and on. Our situation is much worse
Really surprised at this result. Everyone in my sociology class seemed to be voting for Harris. Weird.
Things are certainly less heated than they were both eight years ago and four years ago. Granted, we just elected a guy that seems to have a compulsion for turning up the thermostat as high as it will go, but last night and tonight were relatively calm compared to the last two elections.
