I would be surprised if it takes too long for us to get some overseas talent to X. Miller seemed to have a decent pipeline of guys while at Arizona.

Re: NIL money
Does anyone have any idea what X has to offer here? I've seen people saying we have nothing and then I see people saying we have a good amount.
I do not believe the $250k NIL amount. Just saying.
Therein lies the problem with NIL. No guidelines or rules about services rendered for what money received. Seems like the Wild West out there.
I guess it’s like the more star power the more they can charge for their appearance? Only explanation I can come up with…
What appearance? Name, image and likeness on what. I am not aware of any X players on anything, anywhere. No commercial spots, no autograph signings, no posters, no jerseys. What am I missing here. Is it really just deep pocket donors paying kids to play at their school? Nothing else required in return?
For the most part, around the country, yes. Though I did see a bunch of the guys tweet about player cards lately. I’d guess that’s the “NIL” work around.

It’s extremely easy to find this stuff if you really care. Google is your friend
I'll stick with Colby Jones as an example. The kid is dynamic, personable and extremely good looking. Has to carry a can of "chick repellent" on campus I'm sure.
But even with all that, doesn't he need the XAVIER UNIVERSITY connection to sell anything? I mean even if he did a Skyline commercial for cash, wouldn't they want him in a Xavier Jersey? Would anybody buy a Colby Jones jersey if it didn't have an X on it?
Barstool sports and cameo deals.. cameo is on a per transaction basis just like the shirts.
I’m not sure what exactly are you complaining about?
The one link speaks to the shirt marketplace and the other is the nil platform.
I’m not in town but I feel like I have seen billboards and/or heard commercial spots with Xavier players. That may be wrong though and im just thinking of players around here.
250k does sound a bit much for x but hell maybe not. The lsu gymnast is making something like 3 mil just for being hot.
I don’t either.
Word is that if Jack can get up to around $200k NIL money, he’ll come back for one more year.
C’mon Home City Ice & Joseph Auto Group, You need a spokesman!!
Jack being the “Big Bag” sounds perfect!
Where did you hear that or is this another example of you simply making shit up. Much like Friday night when you proclaimed that Free would play on Saturday, “mark it”, only to reverse course on Saturday and state that he would be out for tonight. It seems that it’s really important to you to be perceived as someone who is “close to the program” and has sources no one else has access to.
Correct. Certainly strikes me as someone who says a lot on this board like he’s a big shot but yet is consistently wrong. Wrong about steele staying, wrong about miller, plays golf supposedly but had no idea what the metric around the green was, then when called out on it that he was wrong says well it’s not important though it was important enough to argue with me about it… on and on and on. Let’s see.. oh yeah UConn’s players were revolting and many were threatening transferring.
Another one was a prominent women’s assistant acc coach was going to be next in line at x… seems to have backed off that spouting of the mouth too.
Uh, did you notice that EVERYBODY ELSE, said the same thing Friday, and I WAS THE FIRST ONE, to let everybody know, 5 hours before Baum, that Free wasn’t playing. Hey, man. Things changed, I know why but I’m not telling you why.
And yeah. I do have sources that many do not have access to and I’m not telling you who they are.
I don’t make iish up. Believe what you want troll.
Meanwhile, how about ante-ing up $200k and have Jack stay? You’ve got the big time donor seats that you’re bitching about moving from.
Just keep yelling at the cloud, old man.
Insert popcorn gif here
Does X allow 10-15 big $ donors access to the locker room post game?
Oh I’m sure you have sources………I’m not suggesting that you make EVERYTHING up. But the problem is your sources are consistently wrong and thus you’re consistently wrong. It doesn’t appear that you are posting anonymously on this board as it seems others know who you are. What is your name? I would like to know if maybe we’ve met before.
But they are not consistently wrong. Things change in minutes sometimes. If you don’t think that can happen, no one can help you. You can’t even keep your facts straight. I don’t post anywhere near the amount of stuff I’m told. And if I’m told something credibly and it changes I try to correct it asap on here. The Steele thing last year happened at the highest levels and didn’t filter down until later. That wasn’t ground level like other things are.
I have no reason to make anything up. The people who count know who I am. I’ve given plenty of clues. You don’t count.
Well people close to the program have said otherwise and is $3 million that much? I would imagine Xavier has some boosters with businesses with plenty of money to provide for at least that. I would expect with this years success, more NIL money will come into the program. Xavier is in the business of taking care of guys in the program, they won’t play that game for recruits though from what I understand. Prove your worth so to speak. One other thing. If NIL money wasn’t competitive, I don’t think Jones or Freemantle would have returned. Bama wanted Jones and he chose to stay with Xavier.
OK, I’ll acknowledge that you’re the Woodward/Bernstein of Xavier basketball. You have virtually unlimited access to all the minutiae surrounding the program. Therefore you must be able to answer this question for me. What is Miller’s housing situation in Cincinnati and is he and Travis neighbors?
Not so sure.
While it may seem like a no-brainer that Colby is heading to the NBA, I’m not a 100% convinced. He made a comment about it being Nunge, Kunkel and BoumÂ’s last time playing at Cintas. He said it as if he would be back- my immediate thought was - hmm… maybe he has a solid NIL in place for next season and he is going to stick around for another year.
I feel like Edwards has turned a corner and I’d a legit option at this level (even if it is not as a starter).
I have a gut feeling Zack Freemantle is coming back. He has shown he is capable of being a special player- deserving of more recognition - and a full season of him playing at the level he was starting to reach before his injure would do wonders for him. X would benefit by him returning and I think he would benefit by returning to X next season.
I have no idea what the real story is with Tandy and Craft. There appears to be some real potential in both, but it’s just not clear if they are the type of players who have the will and tenacity to fight through injuries and rough patches and eventually elevate their game enough to earn a bigger role on the roster. maybe there is still hope.
I wish we were seeing more from Miles and Tucker. I’d be completely happy with those two sticking around if Miller feels there are enough scholarships to go around.
I would love to see and could see a situation where everyone who is eligible to stay does (especially those who are part of that top 7/8 rotation)
Colby
Jack
Zach
Jerome
Claude
Edwards
+
Craft
Tandy
Miles or
Tucker
+
4 Freshman
+
A prove Big from the portal (if Nunge and/ or Free does not return)
Colby—-2 million vs maybe 200k. Tough choice
Jack—- maybe a 5% chance. He’s married and 40. Probably time to leave the nest.
I expect 3 or 4 new players on top of the freshmen coming in.
Yup. But I don't think Free is even as high as 50%. Seems like he's gone otherwise would be playing. As for MOR, appreciate his insights and in his defense, his calls have been accurate. Free's situation feels like a last-minute change. X told Rothstein he's cleared and there was no buzz around Free not playing. Then, suddenly, he's not. Tough to know what's in a young person's mind.
I have no insight here, surprising(?) :-)
But if Colby gets all the feedback going through the NBA evaluations that he’s a first round pick, as much as he loves Xavier- and he does- he’s gone, and should be with our thanks.
I’m standing by what I posted about Jack Nunge.
There is a fly in Free’s ointment that makes any prediction moot. That’s all I can say.
I’m personally confident that Jerome, Claude, Cesare & KyKy will return.
I also personally think that Elijah & Dionte would be Basketball wise better transferring, unless they just love riding the bench at X.
And Cam? I just can’t get away from the Reid “ recruits over him” scenario. Maybe he stays and competes? Maybe he sees handwriting?
I really don’t know. I could imagine a scenario where 1-2-3 guys transfer to Oxford but that is spec only.
On the other hand…if Colby goes through all of the NBA evaluations and team workouts, and is told by NBA PEOPLE that he is NOT a 1st rounder, or is at BEST a late 1st rounder, what then?
They’re been countless college players that have listened to the “experts” who were NOT actual NBA scouts, coaches, or front office personal tell them that they should be 1st rounders, and have stayed in the draft only to not hear their name called. Unless the actual NBA people tell him that he will be a for sure 1st rounder, he shouldn’t close the door to returning.
I’ve seen his name in projections as a 1st rounder, but generally as a late 1st rounder. That can often become a 2nd rounder, and only the 1st round is a guaranteed contract, right?
Correct that only 1st rounders are guaranteed to have guaranteed contracts but I saw a study from 2019 that the majority of 2nd rounders are as well. 91 of 132 over a six year span. Some are two years, some one. I guess my question back would be what benefit would it be for Colby to stay? He was told to work on his shot, he did.. to the tune of a 40% 3 pt shooter. I don’t think he has anything else to prove. He’s either good enough to play at the next level or he’s not at this point, might as well figure it out and not “waste” another year.
Curious, other than both being white, why does Reid impact Craft? They really are different players. Reid will be a 2 and Craft a 3. Sean has high hopes for Craft and he will be a good one down the road. You can’t teach 6’6” and knock down shooter. His issue was just not getting the defense this year. That will come.
I really don’t think they ARE different players. BOTH of them are 6:6 and how do you say Craft is a 3 but Reid a 2? Seem like the same player to me. I haven’t seen Craft stick his nose on for rebounds or try to guard legit small forward. But somebody who follows this stuff closer should weigh in. They are both the same guy, aren’t they, or am I wrong?
I’m willing to listen. Tell us the difference.
