Everything is always so whiny.

Trump can be blamed for a lot of things, but starting today’s political discourse is not one of them. Has he added gasoline to a burning fire? Sure.

For decades, the Democrats have been accusing Republicans as racist, sexist, homophobic and xenophobic. Not to mention a basket of deplorables. Seemed to work because those terms are amplified in today’s politics.

Perhaps you don’t see it as civil discourse, but as a matter of fact?

Sure. Happened before and the world didn’t end. BTW, the House originates the budget so if the Senate doesn’t pass it, it’s actually the Dems and the POTUS shutting down the Gov’t. Not the House.

Look forward to the Dem shutdown.

I think you can find examples on both sides of what you note….from web sites, publications, lesser figure like congressmen and women, and on and on.
But the president occupies a special place with the bully pulpit.
You’d be hard pressed to find anything Biden or Obama has said/written that comes close to the vile that pours out of Trump’s mouth on a daily basis.
He just whines on and on like a small child.

Interesting logic... the House majority originates the budget...check...the house majority passes the budget...check... why wouldn't at least some of the pubs vote for it in the senate along with all dems.?

Yes both parties are not immune from political discourse over the years.

You made it seem like Trump was solely responsible for today’s climate.

Also, the racist, sexist, xenophobic, and homophobic comments are not just from a few fringe folks. Think if you talked with large group of democratic voters, they would agree with this rhetoric. I think this is about as low you can go to attack one’s character.
